How to play Teamfight Tactics

How to play Teamfight Tactics.How to Win in the New Teamfight Tactics Mode: Everything You Need to Know About the Arena, Characters, Skills and Items

In Teamfight Tactics, each player must assemble the strongest team of League of Legends champions who will fight against the heroes of their rivals. As in the existing counterparts, the winner is the one who remains the last living player among all the others.

Characters can be purchased with in-game currency, which is accumulated after each round. Before a new battle, the player is randomly given a choice of five heroes for purchase, after the acquisition of which, you can put what you want on the battlefield.

To win, you will have to collect different combinations of champions, differing in factions and classes, so you should wisely select future allies. By the way, the team receives various bonuses for collecting characters of the same factions and classes on the board.

Do not forget to buy the same heroes, because three copies are combined into a stronger version. After the second upgrade, the champion gets the third and maximum level, which will allow him to be much stronger against the background of the starting characters.

The team of heroes is placed on the chessboard, and at the beginning of each round, through a special portal, they go to the opponent’s territory or meet him on their board. During the battle, the heroes automatically move, attack or apply skills, so the main task of the player is to draw up the right combinations and successfully place units on the battlefield before the start of the battle.

The main differences between Teamfight Tactics and Auto Chess

Both projects are very similar to each other and are created in the same genre, however, Teamfight Tactics has its own individual differences:

  • Cells and hexagons. The playing field is represented here in hexes: it may seem that this is not a very important difference, but in fact it changes the gameplay a lot. So, the number of pieces on the board in Teamfight Tactics in the middle stage of the game is reduced to six, plus thanks to hexanogs it is now easier to defend corner characters, because they can only be attacked by three enemy champions.
  • Map size. In addition to the format, the developers also changed the size of the map. Now, instead of 64 cells (8 rows of 8 lines), only 42 hexes are used (6 rows of 7 hexagons). However, this solution was not to the liking of the community, so an increase in the map is expected in the near future.
  • In this game, the mechanics of composing items have been changed: their collection and correct use plays an important role. The two starting items now turn into a full-fledged powerful artifact. This change greatly simplifies the game, but makes absolutely every item useful.
  • Frequent defeats and carousel. An even more flexible game system allows outsiders to get back into the game faster. For the second loss in a row, additional gold is given, and the players with the lowest amount of health get the right to choose the first champion, which allows them to take a useful hero and quickly turn the tide of the match.

At the end of each round, the winner deals a certain amount of damage to the opponent, after which the entire cycle of the round repeats.

Control

  • You can buy a hero by clicking the left mouse button on a hero in the store;
  • The sale of a champion is carried out by moving it to the corresponding field with the left mouse button;

    • Upgrade Feature: Required to upgrade the entire set of champions in the store for a small fee;
    • The function of buying experience, which is needed to pump the player’s level: the higher the level, the more heroes are placed on the board.
  5. Factions and classes panel. Active and inactive team bonuses are shown in a convenient format.
  6. All received items are moved to this place, which are also returned when sold.

Player metrics

The mode does not have a large number of mechanics, so there are three indicators in the game: health, gold and level.

Health

Each player starts the battle with a health level of 100 units. Damage taken is calculated based on the number of surviving characters on the board and their strength. After the health level reaches zero, the player is eliminated from the match, and the set of characters is returned to the general stack of heroes for use by other players.

Gold

Gold is the main and only resource with which you can buy heroes, experience points or update a set of characters in the store.

Coins are mined automatically at the beginning of each round, but they can also be obtained from gold generators, a bonus from a streak of victories or defeats after winning a round, as well as a collected combination of pirates, which adds additional currency to your hand after each battle.

Don’t be afraid to sell unneeded champions: excess gold can come in handy at any time. However, keep in mind that the strongest heroes will return less gold than their original cost in the store.

Level

Each player starts the match at level 1 and gains experience during the battles, which allows him to reach the 9th maximum level. A higher level allows more characters to be placed on the board, and the most powerful heroes appear in the store. Experience is gained after each battle, but it must be additionally purchased without fail, otherwise there will not be enough champions on the battlefield in the middle of the game, which will lead to unconditional defeat.

It is also important to choose the right time to level up to win. So, thanks to an earlier improvement, you can get a better situation on the battlefield.

Little legends

The game provides the ability to choose a small legend – an analogue of an avatar that can move around the board, dance and demonstrate various emotions. After the first games, the first free legend will be available. The paid version can be purchased from the in-game store for 750 RP. At the moment, only six varieties are available, but the developers have promised to release as many companion variants as possible.

For players who would like to improve the appearance of their pet, there is the option of purchasing a special egg for 490 RP to improve the model and effects. If the avatar has already been improved to the third level, then it will stop appearing in these eggs. Little Legends can go to the Howling Abyss, where they will support players from the sidelines.

Game structure

The entire mode is divided into several main stages, each of which is divided into rounds, consisting of a planning phase and a combat phase.

Planning phase

At the beginning of this phase, the players automatically receive gold and the store is updated, if its blocking is not selected.After that, 30 seconds are given to buy heroes, increase experience, update the store and place champions on the board.When the time expires, the phase ends, and the selected set of champions will remain unchanged until the end of the current fight.

Place heroes based on their strengths and weaknesses. First of all, place tanks in front, and leave archers and magicians behind. It is worth considering that some champions can jump over distances, so it is advisable to leave someone for cover next to a weak character.

Combat Phase (Players vs. Players)

At the end of the planning phase, the battle phase starts, in which a team of heroes, together with a small legend, move to the opponent’s arena or meet enemies on their battlefield. The phase ends after the winner is determined or at the end of the timer. If it was not possible to identify the strongest, then both players take damage depending on the number of champions remaining and their strength.

Combat Phase (Players vs.Monsters)

At each stage, a round is provided in which it is necessary to fight with characters under the control of artificial intelligence, and at the very beginning of the match, in order to level up and compose an initial combination, the player needs to withstand the weakest enemies in three rounds.

Carousel

At the very beginning of the game, as well as in each subsequent stage, players will have to participate in a joint choice of characters. To choose a champion, you need to bring a little legend. Players should be careful and careful, because the avatar grabs the first hero it touches, and it is not possible to change the choice.

At the beginning, all participants choose champions at the same time, but in subsequent stages the system offers the first choice to players with lower health.

Duplicate commands

At a certain moment, an odd number of players will remain on the battlefield, so the system will duplicate the team of a random player so that each user has a pair for the next round. When three players remain in the game, the member with the highest health is always sparring against the additional team. This is done so that participants with lower health have time to improve their position and strengthen their strength: then the subsequent duel for victory will be held on more equal terms.

Factions in Teamfight Tactics

A character’s faction indicates that he belongs to the group and its characteristics. Combinations of several heroes of the same faction unlock bonus indicators that increase the values of the entire team or individual members of it. Copies of the same characters receive bonuses from factions, but are not unique champions, which means they are not counted in the total.

Champions in Teamfight Tactics

There are five levels of character significance in the mode. Heroes of high levels are always stronger, but they are much more expensive and are less likely to be found in the store. In the early game, the simplest and weakest characters are available, but as the level rises, players are more likely to come across stronger champions.

They differ in the color of the text, the shape of the gem and the value in gold coins:

  • 1st level (white, no gem, 1 gold);
  • 2nd level (green, circle, 2 gold);
  • 3rd level (blue, triangle, 3 gold);
  • 4th level (lilac, rhombus, 4 gold);
  • 5th level (gold, hex, 5 gold).

Each of the champions can be improved if the player adds three copies to the set at once, which will automatically turn into an improved version of this hero with two stars. Such characters have higher indicators of health, attack and ability power, and three champions with two stars raise their level to the most powerful version with maximum values.

  6. Magic Resistance. Reduces damage from skills.

Tips for Beginners

Tactics play a big role in the game, so below are some tips to help you choose the right strategy for the match:

  • Watch your opponents to prepare for their combinations in advance and collect a stronger set of champions.
  • Try to improvise and not get too attached to any tactical blanks, because the desired artifact or character may not appear at the right moment, so you need to think one step ahead, try to stock up on other heroes or be ready to change the combination to improve the position in the match.
  • Evaluate the current roster of champions: if from round to round you are pursued by one defeat, it may be worth adding and changing someone, or rearranging the combination on the battlefield.
  • Try not to spend all the gold in one go, because each coin will count in the late game when urgent rebuilds are required. Plus, for every 10 coins saved, you can get a cash bonus for the next round.
  • During a round with a carousel, do not rush to run through the free space in the middle, so as not to capture an unnecessary champion, you should consider a shortcut and go around all the heroes outside.

At the moment, as many as 50 characters are available in Teamfight Tactics, which were divided into 13 factions and 10 classes. All the details are well thought out in the game: breakdown into stages and rounds, new mechanics of collecting artifacts and a “carousel” with heroes. The only disappointment is the complete absence of an encyclopedia that would help novice players: the project still turned out to be more for those who are already familiar with the new genre. Fortunately for newbies, mastering the intricacies of Teamfight Tactics is not a difficult process: the main thing is to keep playing despite possible losses and use this guide to start winning.
