Outriders is a three-player cooperative RPG that features crossover play, so naturally you’ll want to know how to start a multiplayer session. It is not too complicated, but we are here to help you if you need it. Here’s how to play co-op with friends in Outriders .
How to play cooperative with friends in Outriders
Therefore, you may have noticed that you cannot play co-op with friends until you complete the game’s prologue. The introductory mission will take you to this point, where you will receive your powers as “modified”. Basically, you will have to play until you have the option to choose your class.
Once you get to this point, you will be able to access the main camp. Go down a nearby ladder, just after exiting a scene with a familiar character. It’s in the lower left of the map. If you follow the goal marker, you can’t miss it.
Once you arrive at the camp, you will receive the above message. To play with friends, open the menu or walk to a matchmaking station. In all cases, you will access the same screen.
From there, tap Play with friends, then select a friend’s name in the Online or Play Outriders sections. You will have the option to invite or join the friend you selected.
For those looking to play co-op on Outriders using the cross-play feature, be sure to open the options menu and turn it on. Crossplay is disabled by default as it is still in its beta phase at this point in the game. Check out our cross-play guide if you need more help getting there.
Random pairing on the Outriders
You can also match random people if you want on Outriders. Once the co-op is unlocked, go anywhere and select the matchmaking station, from there select Join Random Play and you will. You can also select this option from the login screen if you want to jump directly to a group that is at approximately the same point in history as you.
