What you need to do to open the chest with the eye and get the loot
While exploring the castle and its surroundings in Hogwarts Legacy, you will find chests with a large eye that will look at the main character as you approach. As soon as you get close enough to open them, you will encounter an aggressive, literally hysterical reaction. None of the spells available to you that can be cast directly on the chest will work here. Instead, you are interested in another spell that you can cast on your hero. During the main story quest “Secrets of the Forbidden Section”, a Deillumination Spell will be unlocked, which makes you invisible, allowing you to avoid being detected by other creatures. To open the chest with the eye, cast a Deillumination Spell on yourself. It is important to be out of sight of the chest with the eye. After that, return to the chest to open it. If you cast the Deillumination Spell too close to the chest, you won’t be able to open it, because the chest itself will notice your trick and remain aggressive. Therefore, be sure to move away from the chest before using the Deillumination Spell.
The first chest with an eye that you can open in the game is located in the most forbidden section of the Hogwarts library. You will find it during the quest “Secrets of the Forbidden Section”.
Most chests in Hogwarts Legacy contain equipment, cosmetic skins, or a small amount of gold coins. As for chests with an eye, you will find the same loot in the form of 500 gold coins in them. Considering how expensive blueprints for equipment in the Room of Rescue, upgrades for the broom, and so on, it is important to open as many of these chests as possible in order to earn money to purchase all the unique things that Hogsmeade has to offer.
