Exposure to light
The orchid is a plant that needs sunlight and light. To increase the odds in your favor so that your flower can bloom again once your old flowers have faded, you need to make sure it gets enough light. For example, you can place your orchid near a bright window, making sure that it is not too exposed to direct sunlight, especially if you live in a hot area and during spring and summer. Prefer a place where the sun enters only in the morning.
To find out if your orchid has enough light, inspect the color of its leaves. If they are dark green in color, it could be a sign that your plant is not getting enough light. Conversely, if your orchid leaves are lighter green or spotted with red, your plant is likely too exposed to light.
Give your orchid enough water
To get your orchid back in bloom, remember to carefully monitor your watering. In fact, this plant needs water to develop and give new flowers. But the soil in which it is planted does not have to be soggy. Preferably, bathe the pot in a basin with water for 10 minutes to water it, every 2 weeks or every 10 days. This method of irrigation also allows the roots of the orchid not to remain too long in too wet soil. Unlike many flowering plants, it is not always necessary to remove the stem that produced the flowers after the flowers have faded, especially if it is the Dendrobium orchid . On the other hand, for Phalaenopsis , the most widespread type of orchid among the more than 25,000 existing varieties, it will be necessary to cut the stem of the withered flower by pruning the stem that gave flowers at its second or third node, cutting it at an angle.
