How to make a train in Minecraft

The world of Minecraft is truly immense, to the point that traveling from one place to another can become a real challenge if you don’t have an adequate transportation system. You know this well: you have tried to use different systems, such as mounts or boats, but it is not exactly “the best of life”.

Rather, what you would need is a system that allows you to travel from one point to another automatically, perhaps with the possibility of carrying objects and resources with you. How do you say? Is that just what you were thinking about? Then know that you have come to the right place! In this tutorial, in fact, I will explain how to make a train in Minecraft , thus obtaining an ideal means of transport for your needs.

The procedures to follow are simple and straightforward, but to build a fully functional train you will need to resort to mods. Which? How do they work? I will explain it to you shortly. So take five minutes of free time and continue reading this guide: you will find everything explained below.

How to make a train in Minecraft

As mentioned above, in Minecraft it is not possible to build a train as it is intended in reality: to get a working train you have to resort to unofficial mods ); however, if this interests you, in the basic version of the game (Java or Bedrock, on any game platform) you can create a railway system that allows you to move from one place to another quickly and also guarantees the transport of objects.

It is possible to build such a system with rails for carrying mine carts . The latter can be simple (for transporting the avatar) or with trunks , to contain objects of any type.

Trolleys need a push to be able to travel along the tracks. In this case, the tracks powered by redstone are used which, if positioned appropriately, allow the trolleys to receive the necessary thrust even for traveling on slopes or simply for traveling long distances.

When placing a mine cart with furnace on a rail, after activating it with fuel, it can pull some carts (about 3-4). Alternatively, if positioned in the queue, the mine cart with furnace can move as many carts as desired.

In the first case, the trolley with the furnace must travel straight paths, preferably without curves. In the second case, however, as long as there is fuel in the furnace, the furnace trolley will push the other trolleys on uneven paths, even on slopes.

That said, let’s see how to build tracks and trolleys. Obviously the layout of the tracks, which of them to use, how many carriages to use and how to set up the entire railway system depends only on you and your imagination.

That said, to build tracks you will first need 6 units of Iron Ingot and 1 unit of Staff placed on a workbench . To build a powered track , which is a track that supplies power to the carts, you need 6 units of gold bars , 1 unit of redstone and 1 unit of staff .

Obviously, to keep this type of track powered, place a redstone torch next to the powered track. You can make a Redstone Torch in a workbench by inserting 1 unit of redstone and 1 unit of staff .

As for the mine carts , on the other hand, place 5 units of iron ingots on a workbench . The other types of carts, on the other hand, are created in a workbench with 1 unit of Mining Cart and one unit of the object: 1 unit of Furnace (for the Mining Cart with furnace ) or 1 unit of Chest (for the Mine cart with trunk ).

How to make a working train in Minecraft

If you want to know how to make a working train in Minecraft , then I recommend that you use the mods for the Java Edition of the game (which, as you know, is only available on PC). In fact, thanks to the Immersive Railroading mod you can add perfectly functioning trains in Minecraft.

The first thing you need to do, though, is to install Minecraft Forge , a mod management tool on Minecraft Java Edition. In this regard, I recommend that you read the instructions I gave you in my tutorial on how to install Minecraft Forge .

Once this is done, you must download Immersive Railroading and its add-ons, essential for the correct functioning of the mod. Then go to the CurseForge.com website and download the Immersive Railroading mod using this link and pressing the Download button . Do the same for the Universal Mod Core and Track API components .

After downloading the JAR file of the mod that I showed you in the previous paragraph, move the folder mods in the path C:\Users\[nome utente]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraftof Windows or ~/Library/Application Support/minecrafton Mac OS . If you can’t find the aforementioned folder, create it manually .

Now, launch the Minecraft client and click the  icon next to the Play button . Then choose the Forge profile and click the Play button to start Minecraft with mod support. By starting a game in Creative mode , you will have access to all the objects of the mod, present in the new tabs in the inventory.

You will then be able to add the tracks , locomotives and wagons , as well as any useful tools in order to create your railway system in Minecraft. In case you want to know more about how the Immersive Railroading mod works , I recommend that you carefully read the information in its official Wiki (in English)

In addition to the advice I have indicated to you in the previous chapters, you can also rely on the many videos on YouTube that refer to the construction of trains or railway systems in Minecraft, as well as useful tips to optimize their implementation.

In this regard, what you have to do is reach the YouTube web portal or start its app for Android or iOS / iPadOS and type, in the search box, the terms “minecraft train” or “minecraft train” (in English), so as to view the list of all videos on this topic made by Minecraft fans like you.

Alternatively, you can also browse the Minecraft mod catalog on CurseForge.com , accessible at this link . You will then be able to access the list of mods that allow you to implement railway systems for the different versions of the game on Minecraft Java Edition, to be installed by following the advice I gave you in this tutorial .
