Figuring out your feelings about someone you’ve been with for a long time can be very difficult. Life is a complicated thing, relationships happen, they change, you change, and if at first the answer to the question of your feelings for each other was obvious, then after all these years it seems that everything is not so clear-cut. To understand how you really feel about your partner now, try to answer these three key questions as honestly as possible.
When you are apart due to work, travel, or other circumstances, do you miss your partner, their physical presence, their voice, their laughter, the emotional comfort that comes with them? Do you often think about them when they are not around? If so, they still hold an important place in your heart, in your head, and in your life.
However, it is important to distinguish between normal, healthy longing for a loved one and unhealthy dependence on him . In the first case, we are talking about the desire to be close to a loved one, and in the second – about the inability to feel like a full-fledged person without him. And there is something to think about here.
2. DO I FEEL GOOD IN HIS COMPANY?
Enjoying each other’s company is the foundation of loving relationships. It’s about feeling spiritual comfort, ease, happiness, fun, joy when you’re together. And it’s not necessarily about something grand, about some trips and adventures, but about the simplest moments of life.
You enjoy having breakfast together, watching a TV series on the couch, walking, just being close.
If so, then love has not disappeared. And if you don’t care, or prefer to spend time apart, it makes sense to re-evaluate your feelings.
3. DO I SEE OUR FUTURE TOGETHER?
You make long-term plans, think about some life goals, dream about something – is your partner present in these plans and dreams? Do you discuss these plans with him, do you share your dreams? If yes, then deep down you are sure that your relationship will overcome all trials and problems, and you will be able to cope with all life’s difficulties together, because you are a team and you love each other. And if not, then love has most likely outlived itself.
