How to install macOS Monterey using Oracle VirtualBox?

Good news for Windows users as you can now install macOS Monterey using VM VirtualBox on your PC.

Monterey has many cool features that users want to try and experiment with. However, anyone who doesn’t use a Mac computer will have no other way to get their hands on it, and the only way is to buy a Mac that not everyone is willing or willing to buy.

So, in this case, you can install VM VirtualBox from Oracle and then install Monterey on your computer. So let’s see how you can do this.

Install macOS Monterey Using VirtualBox: Minimum System Requirements

To install Monterey on VM VirtualBox, you need the following:

  • 8GB RAM (4GB also works but not recommended)
  • 150GB of free HDD space

Method to install macOS Monterey using VirtualBox on Windows PC

Step 1: Open Oracle VM VirtualBox on your computer.

Step 2 : Click on the New button, as you will now create a new virtual machine.

Step 3: Also, click Expert Mode and give it a name. I recommend that you name it macOS Monterey, as you will need to remember it later.

Step 4: Leave the other aspects as they are, but try to slide the RAM as far as possible. Because it’s an intense operating system, the more RAM the better.

Step 5: Tap Create. Change the file size to at least 150GB and click Create.

Install macOS Monterey using VirtualBox: Modify Settings

Step 3: Below the screen, set the video memory to maximum. Then go to Storage, under SATA controller, select the Empty icon.

Step 4: In the optical drive attribute, select Choose a Disk File. Access the macOS Monterey ISO file, select it and check the Live CD / DVD.

Step 5: Select USB 3.0 under USB and tap OK.

Install macOS Monterey using VirtualBox: Run command file

Step 4 : Open the command prompt. Now, in Notepad, copy the command “C: Oracle VirtualBox Program Files” and paste it into the Command Prompt.

Step 5: You must change the directory and it is already in the VirtualBox directory.

Step 6: Then, one by one, paste the individual command and press the Enter key.

Install macOS Monterey using VirtualBox: Start Virtual Machine

Step 1: Open Virtual Machine on the left side, click the Start button. You will see that it is starting to load.

Step 2: When doing this, a black window with white text will keep running even with some error messages. You can ignore it as it will continue to happen during the installation phase.

Step 3: Soon the Apple logo will load and you will have to select the language. Tap your preferred language and keep clicking the next arrow.

Step 4: Select Disk Utility when the drives option opens, click Continue and check if you can see all your devices in your VirtualBox in this window.

Step 5: Find the Virtual Drive box and select it. Then you will have to format it. Then click Delete.

Step 6: After doing this, another window will open. You can rename it if you like, change the format to MacOS Extended, and click Delete.

Step 7: It will configure the drive for macOS; therefore, click Done.

Step 8: Go back to Disk Options and click Install macOS Monterey. Also, click Continue.

Step 9: Again, click Continue and wait while the disc starts to install macOS.

It will take you an hour or two to finish charging.

Configure custom settings

Step 1: Select your region, click Continue, add your spoken languages. You can even let them stay at the default if you like.

Step 2: Also, keep clicking continue for items like Privacy & Settings and so on. It will also ask you for an Apple ID; you can just skip that. When installing macOS this way, there is no need for an Apple ID.

Step 3: After clicking Ignore, click Agree to view the terms and conditions, and then you will be asked to fill in your computer account details.

Step 4:

  • Click Continue to Make This Your New Mac.
  • Select Configure later for screen time.
  • Uncheck Siri.

The reason for disabling Siri is because you are installing on a virtual machine, so I’m not sure it will work well for you.

Step 9: Also, you can check the theme, click Continue to the keyboard setup wizard and complete the rest of the settings.

And that’s it. You have installed macOS Monterey on your computer with the help of VirtualBox. I don’t guarantee that macOS will work as well as on a mac computer. After all, it’s just a virtual machine, so you can expect some friction.

However, if you don’t know how to get VirtualBox on your PC, please continue reading the steps below.
