How to install Kodi on an Amazon Fire TV Stick

Kodi is one of the most popular media players of the moment. It is capable of playing all kinds of video and music formats and even allows you to watch Internet TV , play retro games or listen to the radio, thanks to the multitude of add-ons available for the application. Unfortunately, Kodi is not officially available for Fire TV Stick devices from Amazon.

Although Fire TV players only allow you to download apps from the Amazon application store, in the background they work like any other Android device. This means that we can install applications in APK format . Of course, knowing that in the case of the Fire TV Stick we will have to use the specific APK package for 32-bit ARM processors.

How to install Kodi on a Fire TV device

Before reviewing the different methods available, it is important to mention that in order to install Kodi it is necessary to activate the following options for developers in the Fire TV stick settings.

  • From the home screen of the Fire TV device go to ” Settings“.
  • Go to ” System -> Options for developers“. In the most recent versions we will have to navigate to “Device -> Options for developers”.
  • Activate the ” ADB debugging” and ” Apps of unknown origin ” options .

Finally, go to ” System -> About -> Connections ” and note the IP address of the Fire TV device. In more recent versions of Fire TV this option can be found in ” Device -> About -> Connections” .

Method # 1: Use the Downloader app

This is one of the easiest ways to install applications that are not officially available for the Fire TV stick. Simply go to the Amazon app store, install the “Downloader” app and launch it.

In the upper left part we click on “Browser” and from the browser we load the page https://kodi.tv/download .

We select the 32-bit version for Android and download the APK file. Next, we click on it and authorize the installation of Kodi. Goal achieved!
