We already have iOS 16 for a few weeks. A short time later, we have the beta 3 of iOS 16 . It is for developers, yes, but it is already possible to install it on one of the iPhones compatible with this new version. If you can’t wait until the fall to officially get iOS 16, you can follow this guide and install its beta.
Things to know before installing iOS 16 beta 3
First of all and the most obvious, is your iPhone compatible with iOS 16? There is a wide list of compatible terminals, but Apple has removed some from its list compared to what was iOS 15 , thus leaving compatibility:
- iPhone 8
- iPhone 8 Plus
- iPhone X
- iPhone XS
- iPhone XS Max
- iPhone XR
- iPhone 11
- iPhone 11 Pro
- iPhone 11 Pro Max
- iPhone 12 mini
- iPhone 12
- iPhone 12 Pro
- iPhone 12 Pro Max
- iPhone 13 mini
- iPhone 13
- iPhone 13 Pro
- iPhone 13 Pro Max
- iPhone SE (2nd generation)
- iPhone SE (3rd generation)
The iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, SE (1st gen.), 7 and 7 Plus will not be compatible with iOS 16 and therefore will not be compatible with its betas.
Now, that your iPhone meets the requirements does not leave it without risk . Each beta version that is released, as unstable as it is, can contain errors of all kinds . From unexpected restarts to excessive battery consumption, through apps that do not work. In short, handling the device can become a real odyssey. If on top of that we take into account that it is already said that the iOS 16 beta will have more bugs than usual , things get complicated.
Steps to install beta 3 of iOS 16
If you decide to take the risks and want to install this iOS 16 beta, you will need to have a developer profile. If you don’t have it, you can download it from websites like Beta Profiles , where you’ll need to choose “iOS 16.”
Once you have the profile downloaded , it will be a matter of following these simple steps:
- Open iPhone settings and tap on the downloaded profile.
- Install the profile accepting all the conditions.
- Restart the iPhone (usually prompted, but if not, do it manually).
- Once the iPhone is turned on again, enter the settings again.
- Now go to General> Software Update .
- When iOS 16 beta 3 appears, click on “Download and install”.
And ready. This procedure could take several minutes or even hours , always depending on your Internet connection and the status of Apple’s servers. In the first hours after the launch there is usually a high congestion, so you must arm yourself with patience.
