How to Get Trophies in Horizon Forbidden

Today , Horizon Forbidden West was finally released ! The long-awaited PlayStation exclusive was called almost the main game of the year in absentia. Like any other, it has trophies and that coveted platinum that needs to be won. Our small guide will help you with this.

General information

  • Platinum difficulty: 2-3 out of 10. Even easier than the first part.
  • Time required: about 50 hours.
  • There are 59 trophies in the game: 1 platinum, 1 gold, 7 silver and 50 bronze.
  • The lists are identical for PS4 and PS5 versions, and you can transfer progress and trophies from PS4 to PS5.
  • There are no missable trophies, but there is one that may be harder to complete once completed. It involves scanning cars.
  • There are no trophies for difficulty, you can play on any.
  • After finishing the story, you can continue to explore the map and complete quests. Moreover, it will even be more interesting to do.
  • Owners of disc copies should definitely install the day one patch, which fixes a number of game flaws and trophy-related bugs.

Action plan

To get platinum in Horizon Forbidden West, you just need to complete the story, some additional quests, complete a number of simple conditions and explore the open world a little. Until the end of the story, you can safely play on any difficulty, performing as many side activities as you want.

There are no plot spoilers in this article, but some trophy descriptions may mention mechanics that were intended as a surprise. If any of the readers absolutely do not want to spoil any impressions at all, we recommend that you scan all available machines from the very beginning of the game (especially pay attention to the final boss and his minions) and kill their new types as they appear, and look at the guide after completing the storyline.

How to Get Story Quest Trophies in Horizon Forbidden West

Unlike Zero Dawn, Forbidden West has virtually no variability left, so you can make any decisions along the way that won’t affect anything. Complete quests as they appear, mixing in as many side activities as you like.

There are 11 story trophies (10 bronze and 1 gold), and they are unmissable. We won’t name them to avoid spoilers; to get them, just complete the quests in the Main tab.

How to Get Trophies for Side Quests in Horizon Forbidden West

The game is simply bursting with additional tasks, some of which are comparable to the story ones. Most of them are not needed for trophies, but you will most likely want to complete some of them anyway. This is generally interesting and will be useful for leveling up, but for trophies only the tasks of party members and a few stories from the game world are important.

  • “The Choice of the Desert Leader” . The quest is taken in Sharp Hand from a guy named Drakka. The outcome of the task is unimportant.
  • Saving the Hedge” . After completing the cinematic introduction, Aloy goes to the Hedge, which stands between the East and the West. For the trophy, you need to solve the problems of the inhabitants of this city in the quests “Deep Grief”, “Shadow from the Past”, “Breakers”, “Twilight Path”, but the last quest “Shadow in the West” is already outside the Hedge, in the Forbidden West.
  • “Kothallo’s Help”, “Healing the Spirits of the Land”, “Alva’s Data Found” . Quests from party members that they give out shortly after joining the party and completing several story missions. After completing the story, Alva can be found in the settlement of Heritage Pier, Zo in Song of the Valley, and Kothallo in the Grove of Memory.

How to Get Open World Trophies in Horizon Forbidden West

  • “Control of the first longneck intercepted”, “Control of all longnecks intercepted” . There are 6 robots in total; one of them can only be intercepted after completing the story, and another one is located right in the Kappa boiler.
  • “Completed 4 Rebel Outposts” – There are small rebel outposts scattered around the world, containing up to half a dozen enemies. They are marked with a skull with one upside-down checkmark, and you only need to complete four of these.
  • “First Rebel Camp Completed”, “Azera Defeated” . The camps are more fortified outposts, marked on the map with a skull with two upside-down checkmarks. After clearing three of these, you need to go to the fourth one with Erend and fight Azera. If you did this after completing the story, Erend can be found in the settlement of Secret Light.
  • “Control of the first core intercepted”, “Control of all cores intercepted” . There are four cauldrons in the game that can be passed. They are available at any time, the main thing is to get to them.
  • “Obtained badges in hunting grounds”, “Obtained badges in all hunting grounds” . Four arenas marked on the map in Pregrad and three Tenakt settlements. In each, you need to pass tests with machines with at least the minimum result.
  • “Passed a series of Arena tests” . More difficult tests with machines. The Arena opens after completing the story mission “Culture” and the additional “Opening of the Arena”. Then it is enough to pass the first four tests with the minimum result.
  • “Victory over the Fortress” . To fight the Fortress, you need to pass all the tests of the Tenakt trainers. Training circles are located in three main settlements, where you will need to hone your techniques and then defeat the trainer. After that, a marker with the Fortress hut will appear.
  • “Killed all Miner type vehicles”, “Killed all Scout type vehicles”, “Killed all combat type vehicles”, “Killed all Transporter type vehicles” . To avoid problems with these achievements, we recommend killing all vehicles in situations where companions suggest going quietly. It is highly likely that you will not encounter any Rockbiters during the story campaign and when completing quests; one can be found in the desert in the south.
  • “Scanned all types of cars” – To avoid problems with this achievement, remember to scan all the cars you encounter, including bosses.
  • “All available machines are saddled .” It’s best to put it off until you’ve completed all the cauldrons. You won’t need to upgrade the blockers for these three machines.
  • “Winning two races” . The first race can be found after the end of the story, north of the settlement of Sharp Hand. Then it is enough to complete two of the three races in cars.
  • “Completed a series of trophy collection contracts .” You can complete a set from the first trophy buyer you meet in the West in the Light of the Wasteland, in return he will give you a rather average armor.
  • “Completed three ruins with relics” . Marked on the map with icons of destroyed skyscrapers. Some may not be available until a certain point in the main story.
  • “Players defeated in the skirmish of machines” . It is enough to complete one of the simplest battles with two different players. The first can be found in the bar in the Barrier, the second – in the Song of the Valley.
  • “Five different collectibles found” . All five types will be encountered at least once in the story or will be near story missions. Drones, towers and black boxes do not need to be handed over to the quest giver, you just need to find them.
  • “Completed two missions involving flying cars .” The quests “First in the Sky” in Vale and “The Way Home” in Heritage Pier are suitable.

How to Get Trophies for Hovering and Killing Cars in Horizon Forbidden West

  • “Long Hover Completed” – You can jump off the mountain the base is on, or complete Alva’s quest by jumping off the skyscraper.
  • “Three series of close combat strikes performed .” Try out the techniques honed in the training circles on machines or people.
  • “Stealth kill 10 vehicles” – Definitely drops during the story.
  • “100 machine parts were knocked off .” Most likely, it will also just drop out as you go along.
  • “Five heavy weapons picked up .” Cannons are shot off large machines like the Ravager, Thunderjaw, or Giant, but they are often used by human opponents, which also counts.
  • “Control of 10 types of machines intercepted .” After completing all the cauldrons, you will have more than 10 blockers, so you will not have to upgrade them. It is enough to look in the database who you can capture, and then find the habitat on the map and, actually, capture.
  • “Used dye flowers” . In addition to medicinal herbs and crafting ingredients, you can find plants labeled with flowers. They are used to create clothing dye at a dyer. For example, the Desert Dwellers in the Searing Spear have such a specialist.

How to Get Leveling Trophies in Horizon Forbidden West

  • “Level 20 reached”, “Level 30 reached”, “Level 50 reached” . The achievement names speak for themselves. By the way, having reached level 50, you will not have upgraded all skills – for this you need to complete a little more quests and other activities.
  • “All weapon types received” . Many will be given out in the story and in additional quests, but it is easier to buy the missing types of equipment from merchants at some point. There are nine of them in total.
  • “All types of elemental damage inflicted” . Equipment with some elemental attacks is rare (like water), but there is an easier way. Blow up the vessels on the machines, then they will receive elemental damage of the element that was in that vessel. Thus, the trophy will most likely drop itself if you know how to shoot at the right points.
  • “Skill tree mastered” . It is enough to master one of the six specializations. To do this, you need to fully improve all the tides of courage and fill all the slots. The shortest tree is the hunting one.
  • “Tide of Courage upgraded to maximum level .” Obtained by completing the previous achievement.
  • “Unlocked three weapon techniques” . Need to unlock three active skills for a weapon. Can be obtained by simply leveling up at least one skill tree.
  • “Improved three types of weapons”, “Improved three items of clothing” . Weapons and clothing are improved at the workbench for regular resources and machine parts. It is better to choose blue items – they have fewer levels of pumping, and for this achievement, things need to be improved to the maximum.
  • “All types of pouches have been improved .” They are also upgraded on the workbench, but for resources from common animals like rabbits, owls, foxes, raccoons, lizards, and so on. Animals can be marked with a visor – don’t forget to look around when you get to a new area.
  • “Weapon reinforced with spirals .” Choose a weapon with two or more slots for modifiers, then upgrade it until the second slot opens. There should be no shortage of spirals after leaving the Obstacle.
