How to get the shuffle button back on Netflix

Have you noticed that Netflix no longer gives you the option to “Play Something” on shuffle? The platform has removed this button, but there is still another way to get it back, so to speak. It’s often said that you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. And that’s certainly true: you never think about watching that exact movie from a streaming catalog until the very day it’s removed . Something similar has happened to you before, right?

The Netflix shuffle button

At first glance, it didn’t seem to make much sense: a shuffle feature so Netflix could decide what to watch for you. A bit like some music playlists , except that movies and TV shows aren’t exactly songs . This option, which used to be called “Play Something,” eventually disappeared.

Netflix decided to get rid of it not too long ago, and quite casually, for a very simple reason: nobody used it. However, reducing the possibilities of something, no matter how useless they may seem, always seems to be a step backwards . That’s why some users want (yes, now) to see Netflix’s shuffle play back.

If you think about it, it makes sense. In fact, Netflix’s original argument for creating it is still as valid now as it was at the time: with the sheer amount of content that platforms like this sometimes offer, it can happen that the user becomes saturated and doesn’t end up making up his mind. Well, then it’s better to let the tool do it for you.

It would be something like going back to conventional television: the movie is broadcast, without asking you if it is really of interest to you, although probably fine-tuning the shot a little more. Well, the Netflix shuffle button no longer exists, but there is a fairly similar option . It is the one offered by the Reelgood portal through this link .

Another way to watch Netflix

Once you enter the site, you only need to select what type of service you have (in this case Netflix, but it also works for Prime Video , Disney or whatever, there are many) and select options such as genre or best scores from the well-known IMDB .

Once you have chosen the parameters, all you need to do is take a look at what the website offers and go to your streaming account, or, if you prefer, log in directly from your TV or whatever device and search for the offer yourself.

An idea that shows that, sometimes, there are users who prefer to leave their entertainment in the hands of random reproductions, even if only to find things they would never have noticed, but which can lead to great discoveries. Will more similar initiatives emerge on the Internet, perhaps in Spain? And more importantly, will Netflix back down and bring back its shuffle button at some point? At the moment, there’s no indication that something like this will happen, but you never know.
