How to get rid of midges from the car

Eliminating the midges from the car is a problem for most motorists and, above all, for all those who are forced to face long journeys on the motorway or in countryside areas, where high speed, combined with the possibility of crossing vast populations of these insects end up filling the windshield and the entire front of the vehicle with gnats.

What many people don’t know is that the bodies of flies, midges and other winged insects should be removed as soon as possible from the bodywork and, in any case, at the latest within a couple of days of impacts with our car.

The risk of neglecting such an event is in fact that the compound that is created, and which is fed by the lifeless body of all the midges, can dry out, creating irreversible damage to the paint.

It is for this reason that the bodywork should be cleaned rather frequently and, in any case, in the event of a “killing” of a swarm of midges, never beyond two days (even better if you acted as soon as you return home).

In the event that the insects to be removed on the car are particularly numerous, and some of these have already shown to “encrust” on the paint, then it is certainly better to turn your attention to special products, which can easily guarantee us a good result. .

Such products can easily be purchased at auto parts stores, or at petrol stations. These are rather cheap products, which are generally oil-based compounds, and which are applied in the same way: just spray this product on the bodywork, wait a few moments for them to act, remove the liquid, with foam and water, using a damp cloth. Easy, right?

How to get rid of midges without buying products

Of course, the above is one of the best ways to get rid of the much-hated dead midges on your windshield, but it’s certainly not the only one!

For example, if you do not want to buy a specific product because you do not have time to go to the spare parts shop, because the filling station is closed or because you may think that this product will not be of use for a long time and you therefore wish to act in another way, know that you can prepare a very effective solution simply by staying in your home and taking a look at the pantry.

In particular, to be able to make a simple and do-it-yourself anti-fly solution, you can take a bottle, fill it with warm (not boiling) water and add some dish soap. Once this is done, all you have to do is go to the windshield of your car and spray it.

Then wait a few seconds for the product to act, and then pass a soft cloth to be able to rinse everything and remove the population of midges that you have invested over the course of the kilometers.

Are the midges on the windshield a danger?

As we had the opportunity to share in the previous lines, the reason that should push you to act as soon as possible is certainly not that of the danger to your safety, but because if you neglect the colonies of midges and dead flies on the windshield and on the front of the cars could in the long run create prejudices to the paint and, therefore, to the beauty of your favorite four-wheeler.

We therefore advise you to act without delay! Also remember that running over a single gnat doesn’t necessarily create a health issue for your car’s paint, but it’s the quantity that makes the difference. And, probably, you will be surprised to notice how many “victims” you could make during a trip, especially in some areas outside the city and in some parts of the year!
