There is only one way to get Mournful Necklaces in Nier Replicant, and that is through the Magic Shade Item Drops.These shades have a slim upper body and super wide thighs, and they spray an absurd amount of magic balls as their main attack. They can be found more easily in the second half of the game, both in the northern plains and in the Lost Sanctuary.
However, it should be noted that the chances of this shade wasting resources are extremely rare. You have a much higher chance of dropping a recovery potion or magic capsule. Even if you drop a resource item, you have an equal chance of dropping a broken earring or desperate necklace.
To that end, you should expect to spend a lot of time farming these enemies for items. Make sure you have the highest level Word Mah in your power applied to both your weapons and your magic to increase your item drop rate, and find a place where you can farm these enemies quickly and efficiently.
We found the Roof of the Lost Sanctuary to be the best location. There are two near the entrance to the rooftop temple, and you can exit and re-enter the area to quickly reappear the shadows.
