How to Get 60 Minutes of Free Skype Calls on Landlines

Microsoft removes the old method of activating free call minutes in Skype. In the new version of Skype Insider (, Microsoft is abandoning the manual method of logging into the Microsoft account page to claim Skype free call minutes.

The new version of Skype will automatically activate 60 minutes of free Skype calls for all users who get an Office 365 plan.

The manual procedure to activate free call minutes in Skype involves following these steps:

  1. Sign in with a Microsoft account at
  2. Select Activate your Skype minutes
  3. Select Activate.

At the moment, you cannot use the method described above to get free minutes on Skype. The new future should be available with the next Skype releases.

New Features Coming to Skype

In addition, the new version introduces two more changes. Skype will save conversations with unsent messages as drafts.

The tool also asks you to set the caller ID for outgoing calls and messages. This way, the recipient will know that it is you when you communicate with them via Skype.
