The easiest way to gain influence early on is to level up your settlement , which will also bring development points and more families to develop the region.
Upgrading churches and estates requires a lot of resources and land, but as a starting tip, the game recommends leaving space around buildings to allow for expansion.
If you are brave enough, you can try to capture the camp of bandits, who are especially annoying at the beginning of the game, stealing resources. After forming the first militia, you can send it to destroy the camp, which is probably located near your settlement.
