How to Find Lost Companions in Fallout 4
We have up to two different methods to find lost companions in Fallout 4.
- One is to do it through a computer using the various console commands, but that could be said to be more like cheating.
- Then we have the natural way, which is through settlement and building a particular structure, and it is the natural way.
Finding lost teammates with console commands
If you want to opt for this somewhat tricky method to find lost companions, follow these steps:
- Open the console commands by pressing the ~ key on the keyboard.
- Now you need to type the following command “prid [Companion ID]” (without quotes) and press Enter. Simply replace the Companion ID with the ones we will offer you below.
- After having written the corresponding command, we have to put “move to player” (without quotes) and press Enter once more.
If you did it right, the partner should appear in front of you.
As we said, each companion has a unique ID, except for Automaton, which has one depending on how you build it.

Finding lost companions through a settlement
This is the natural way to find lost companions in the adventure.
- While in any settlement, you need to open the building menu, then select “energy” and then the “miscellaneous” section.
- Here you should find Vault-Tec’s population management system which will help you find companions.
- Once you have built it, interact with this management system and go to the VIP tracking tab.
After that, here you can select all the companions that you have already unlocked in the adventure and they will be marked on the map so that you can go back for them and bring them back to any settlement.
As you can see, we recommend the second procedure, because it is not only valid for any platform, but it is the natural procedure.
