How to Enable Split Screen Co-op in Baldur’s Gate 3

You can play Baldur’s Gate 3 alone, getting a lot of pleasure, but it is much more fun – in the company of friends. Moreover, it supports co-op – both online and local.

Moreover, there is also a split-screen – a split screen that can be combined. In total, Baldur’s Gate 3 supports co-op for up to 4 players in different configurations:

  • 4 players on 4 different systems
  • 2 players on 1 device plus 2 on 2 others
  • 4 players on 2 devices with splinter screen

How to play split screen on PC:

  • Connect both controllers to the PC
  • Start a new game or load a save
  • Press any button on the second controller
  • The screen will automatically split for multiplayer.
  • The second player will be able to select a new character or control an existing one

Remember, split screen on PC only works with controllers. Co-op won’t work if one player uses a controller and the other uses a mouse and keyboard. Theoretically, you can trick the PC with third-party software, but that’s a whole other story.

How to play split screen on consoles:

Playing split-screen on PS5 and Xbox follows the same steps as on PC. Simply plug in a second controller, press any button on it, and the game will split automatically.

Split-screen is only available on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Unfortunately, Series S owners won’t be able to use it due to the console’s lower performance. The game will also be capped at 30 FPS on PS5 and XSX.

Does Baldur’s Gate 3 support crossplay?

Unfortunately, crossplay is not supported at this time. However, Larian Studios has confirmed plans to implement crossplay between PC, Mac, and consoles. The release is expected later, possibly in the first half of 2024.
