How to enable a sensitive content filter on an Instagram post

According to SimilarWeb , Instagram is the 5th most visited website in the world, with over 6 billion monthly visits! The platform contains all sorts of content, including posts of a sexual nature or violence, videos, etc. For some people they can be easily viewed, but others, such as myself, may not find them suitable.

To help those users, Instagram has rolled out a new feature called Privacy Control. This allows you to decide how much sensitive content is shown on the Instagram Explore tab. If you are wondering how to use this feature, follow the instructions.

What is sensitive Instagram content?

Instagram explicitly states that they do not allow hate speech, bullying and other content that may pose a risk of harm to people. But that doesn’t mean that all Instagram content is convenient for everyone.

Instagram says :

You can think of sensitive content as messages that don’t necessarily violate our policies, but have the potential to upset some people, such as messages that might be sexually suggestive or violent.

Background

On July 21, 2021, Instagram head Adam Mosseri: via a post on Insta , shared the topic:

The photos and videos to view in the Browse tab do not appear because you are subscribed to the account they were posted to, but rather because we think you might be interested in them. Given that we feel responsible, we do not recommend anything delicate. We have a responsibility to do our best to keep people safe, but we would like the balance to be more transparent and broader.

Therefore, we created Confidential Content Control, which allows you to decide how much you want us to try to filter out types of content such as sexually explicit material, firearms, and drugs.

With the Privacy Control Switch, you now have new controls to restrict sensitive content on your iPhone and Android device. In short, you have more choice in what you want to see. Let me show you how to use this clever feature.
