How to edit the share menu of our iPhone or iPad

The iOS or iPadOS sharing menu brings together the different actions that we can perform with the selected content when we touch it. Symbolized with a square with an upward arrow, this menu allows us to send a photo by Messages to print a PDF, by sending a shortcut by Mail . We can customize the different actions according to our preferences, let’s see how.

The three sections of the Share menu

The sharing menu consists of three sections , firstly there are the suggestions for Messages or AirDrop, then a strip of apps with which we can share the content and finally the actions we can take, including shortcuts.

Of these three sections we can customize the second two. The different actions and apps that appear depend on the element that we are sharing , for the example of this article we will customize the share menu of the Photos app. The steps, which we can then apply to any app, are the following:

  1. We open the Photosapp .
  2. We open an image.
  3. We touch the share button in the shape of a square with the up arrow.
  4. In the strip of applications that begins, by default, with AirDropMessages , Mail … we slide to the extreme right.
  5. We touch the Morebutton .

Arrived here we can personalize several things. First of all, we can deactivate certain apps so that they are not shown in the menu . We can also reorganize them to have the ones we use the most at hand. Apps appear in two sections: Favorites and Suggestions . The idea is that we add the apps we want to Favorites , arrange them as we wish and, in addition, hide the ones we don’t need from the Suggestions section . The steps are very simple:

  1. We touch the Editbutton .
  2. Press the green “+” next to the name of the apps in the Suggestionssection that we want to add to Favorites .
  3. We touch the red “-” next to the name of the apps in the Favoritessection that we want to remove from Favorites .
  4. We deactivate the switch next to the name of the apps in the Suggestionssection that we want to disappear from the menu.
  5. We reorder the Favoritessection by dragging and dropping the apps by the little handle on the right.
  6. We press OK.
  7. We press OK

So far we have customized the apps section of the share menu, now we will do the same with the actions section. The actions section shows a list of the different options we have for an element, in the case of Photos, for example, add to a shared album, duplicate, hide, etc. It also shows the shortcuts of the Shortcuts app in which we have activated the Share menu option. Editing these actions is very simple, we will do it by following steps similar to those in the previous section:

  1. We open the Photosapp .
  2. We open an image.
  3. We touch the share button in the shape of a square with the up arrow.
  4. At the bottom end we touch Edit Actions …
  5. We press the green “+” next to the actions in the Photosor Other actions section that we want to add to Favorites .
  6. We touch the red “-” next to the actions in the Favoritessection that we want to remove from Favorites .
  7. We deactivate the switch next to the actions in the Other actionssection that we want to disappear from the menu.
  8. We rearrange the Favoritessection by dragging and dropping the actions by the little shooter to its right.
  9. We press OK.

And that easy. In this simple way we can customize two of the three sections of the share menu on our iPhone or iPad. So the actions or apps that we use the most can appear in a more comfortable position and it will be faster and easier for us to use them.
