How to Disable Two-Factor Authentication on Apple ID

Two-factor authentication is an advanced protection for your Apple ID account. Apple strongly recommends using it at all times, as it increases the security of your user data. But sometimes you need to disable it. In this article, we will look at ways to do this.

How to Disable Two-Factor Authentication in Apple ID on iPhone and iPad

When two-factor authentication is enabled, a password for logging in will not be enough. The user will be able to log in to their account only after confirmation on one of the other devices on their Apple ID. A code consisting of 6 digits comes to the new gadget. It must be entered on a new smartphone/tablet/laptop and then use all its functions.

But how do you turn it off? If you’ve had it enabled for a long time, then, unfortunately, there’s no way . Two-factor authentication is permanently linked to your Apple ID. Apple itself writes the following: ” If you’re already using two-factor authentication with your Apple ID, you can’t turn it off .”

But if you turned it on by accident and don’t want to use it, you’ll have two weeks to turn it off . Here’s what you need to do:

  • Go to “Settings”;
  • Then go to your profile at the top;
  • Click on “Sign-in and security”;
  • Just below there is a section called “Two-factor authentication”;
  • Instead of “On”, select “Off”.
