What steps to follow to disable YouTube comments from your history?

The process to deactivate comments on your YouTube channel cannot be carried out from the platform’s history . However, it is possible to access the history of comments that have been published on your videos to manage them.

For this, you must access the ‘Your channel’ panel on the YouTube platform and then select the option ‘Manage Videos’ . This option will redirect you to a list of the videos that you have published on your channel; by moving the cursor over one of the videos you will be able to identify different options.

There, you must select the one corresponding to the comment cloud, to see the history of the comments that the public has made on the video. To manage a particular comment , you must select the option of the three overlapping dots called ‘action menu’.

When you do, you will have access to multiple options such as: Set, hide, and remove or delete the comment, among other available functions.

How to configure the YouTube videos that you want to disable comments?

The process to disable comments on a video can be carried out for the content that you have published on the channel; as well as for the content you plan to upload to the YouTube platform. In addition, you will be able to define if you want to deactivate the comments of all your published videos , some of them or of only one of the videos in particular, by accessing the corresponding settings.

From the community tab

You can make the corresponding configuration to disable comments from the ‘Content’ tab, either for one or multiple videos of your published content. You must enter ‘Your channel’ on the platform and then select the option ‘Manage videos. With this you will be redirected to a list made up of your videos published on the YouTube platform .

Once you are in this window that shows the content of your channel, you must select the video or the list of videos  to which you want to disable comments. A new toolbar will appear at the top of the window after selecting the video, there you will have to select the box identified as ‘Edit’.

Now, you will have to select the ‘Comments’ section to edit the configuration of the published videos that you selected. You can then set the option ‘Disable comments’ , to block this option from the public accessing the video.

Using the default configuration parameter

If you access the default configuration parameter to disable comments; The videos that you upload to your account after performing this action will have the option to comment disabled for the public. To enter, you must go to ‘Your account’ on YouTube and select the ‘Customize Channel’ section ; or by immediately accessing the YouTube Studio settings page .

Once there, you will have to select the ‘Settings’ option in the panel that is displayed on the left of the window. Then, select the option ‘ Default load settings ‘ and followed by the box identified as ‘Advanced Settings’. You will have to slide the configuration menu and locate the panel corresponding to ‘Comments’.

Finally, you must select the aforementioned box and select, in the menu that will be displayed, the option ‘Disable comments’ . Now, every new video you upload to YouTube cannot be commented on by the public.

    3. Enter the option called ‘ Default charging settings‘.
    4. Select the box corresponding to ‘Advanced Settings’.

    2. Select the video or videos for which you want to know if comments are inactive.
    3. In the new options menu that will appear, select the ‘Edit’ box and scroll the list to select the ‘Comments’ box.

Refreshing the YouTube page or application

If you have checked your content settings on YouTube and the comments are not disabled; You may not be able to see the comments due to an error on the platform’s servers . This is the most common cause of video comments not being viewable; so you might think they are inactive.

The most prudent solution is to refresh the YouTube page; selecting the ‘Load page again’ button if you are using a PC and scrolling down if you are using a mobile device. In this way you will be able to reestablish the connection with the platform’s server and manage the comments that have been published by other users on your YouTube videos.
