How to DISABLE (Automatic Updates) of GAMES in STEAM

Hey friends, in this video I show you how you can Disable or Block Automatic Game Updates on Steam in a very quick and easy way.

Without a doubt, it is very, very annoying that just when you are going to play a craving video game it starts to update out of nothing.

I don’t understand why it just happens when we want to play, because maybe we spent a lot of time with steam open and this didn’t happen, until we started playing.

One of the disadvantages of this happening is that there are processes that will be running while you play and can limit your bandwidth, or make your computer work more, which reduces performance.

Can Automatic Updates be disabled on Steam?

The after ta is YES , and it is exactly the reason why I decided to make this video tutorial.

There are two ways to disable those annoying updates:

  1. The first way will allow you to block that automatic update only in the game you want, because perhaps there is only one game in your collection that is always updating.
  2. The second way will allow you to do it not only with a video game, but with all the games in your library.

Next I will present you two tutorials, one in video and the other in text so that you can do the process in the way you like best.

  4. In the window that opened, choose the Updates option from the menu.
  5. To your right in the Automatic Updates section click on the Keep this game updated option .

  7. Close the windows and that’s it.

How to disable or block automatic updates on Steam for all games:

  1. Open your Steam app.
  2. In the small menu that is at the top of the application, click on Steam and then on Settings .
  3. In the window that opens, we choose the Downloads option from the left menu .
  4. Of the options that will appear on the right, we look for the Download Limitation section and click on the option box that says Restrict automatic updates .
  5. Some fields with hours will be enabled. All you have to do is choose a time when you are not on the PC, for example: if you are asleep at 5:00 am (we hope so ?), then choose 5:00 in both fields .
  6. Then click OK and you’re done.

From now on the games will not be updated, since when the time you indicated arrives and the pc will be turned off and said update will not be able to be executed.

You could also set a time when you’re not on the PC, but if it’s on, so that the games are updated only at that time and not when you’re playing
