Learn how to defeat Primarina in Pokémon Scarlet and Purple 7-star Teraraids with expert tips and strategies. Equip your team, exploit weaknesses, and emerge victorious!
Primarina arrives at the 7-star Teraincursions of Pokémon Scarlet and Purple: what days they are, how to participate and tricks and counters to beat the Pokémon.
Pokémon Scarlet and Purple are once again celebrating a 7-star Teraraid event , this time featuring one of the most “flirtatious” Pokémon introduced in the seventh generation, Pokémon Sun and Moon.
The third evolution of Popplio can now be obtained in Pokémon Scarlet and Purple for owners of the second DLC on Nintendo Switch , as Popplio can be obtained in the wild in the Biodome.
But it is not possible to get Primarina in the wild, and certainly, none as strong as this specimen with the Unbeatable Emblem and Fairy theratype, level 100 and with IVs and EVs at maximum.
In this guide we give you tips to defeat him, but first we remind you of the dates of the Primarina Teraincursion , which will be two weekends :
Primarina Teraraid Dates in Pokémon Scarlet and Purple :
- From Friday, May 10 at 02:00 AM to Monday, May 13 at 01:59 AM (Spanish peninsular time)
- From Friday, May 17 at 02:00 AM to Monday, May 20 at 01:59 AM (Spanish peninsular time)
Best counters for Primarina in the 7-star Teraraid
Primarina is a dual-type Water/Fairy Pokémon, and in this event it’s Fairy-type. This limits the types of Pokémon that are effective against Fairy quite a bit: Fairy-types are weak against Poison and Steel , and Water-types are weak against Electric and Grass .
Conversely, you’ll need to be careful not to use Dark-, Fighting-, and Dragon-type Pokémon , which are weak against Fairy; and also avoid using Fire-, Ground-, and Rock-type Pokémon , which will be weak against Primarina’s Water-type moves, which it can also boost with Torrent.
Gholdengo , a very popular Pokémon in Tera Raids, is ideal for Primarina because it is Steel and Ghost type, and immune to status moves with Golden Body.
Golden Rush , Gholdengo’s signature move, can be powered up with Machination , to raise its Special Attack, and Metallic Clang , to lower the opponent’s Special Defense.
On the other hand, Toxapex , Mareanie’s evolution, is Poison and Water-type, so it will resist Primarina’s Water and Fairy attacks.
With Iron Defense and Recovery you will boost Toxapex’s defense to keep Primarina poisoned for longer, with Toxic or Acid Bomb. If you poison him, you will always get critical hits thanks to Toxapex’s Relentlessness .
Conditions for participating in 7-star Teraincursions
In order to unlock 7-star teraincursions (which are those of the events) like this one in Primarina, you have to have completed the game in its three routes and the postgame , that is, the Grand Strife Academy Tournament .
You also have to have completed at least 10 4 or 5 star Teraraids to get the 6 and 7 star Teraraids (which are the ones from the events).
You don’t need to own the DLC, but you do need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to play online (otherwise, it will be very difficult). Another way to participate is if a friend invites you to their online Teraincursions, you’ll be able to participate .
If you meet these conditions, also make sure you are connected to the Internet : when you enter the Poképortal, select Mystery Gift and Receive News from the Poképortal .
You will automatically download the latest news from the Poképortal, and you will be able to find the Teraraid somewhere on the map . You will recognize it by being a black symbol, with the theratype symbol it has (in the case of Primarina, fairy).
Also remember that you can only catch it once per game (you can try as many times as you want, but only one catch per game). There is no difference between Scarlet and Purple this time.
