How to Deactivate or Remove Cloudflare from a Web Page

Companies like Cloudflare are in charge of making the information requested by their clients online more accessible and secure; placing copies of the information on different servers. Now , what is Cloudflare and how does it work? And more importantly, if you want to disable or remove Cloudflare from a website  completely, how do I do it? In this article you will discover the answer.

What is Cloudflare and how does it work?

To know what Cloudflare is and how it works, we must first have a good understanding of how the internet works. The internet basically works by connecting computers to each other; but if we want to access a specific server, only those closest to that server will be able to access them without problems.

That is why servers have been created all over the world that save and replicate web pages, applications and information in order to have it as close as possible. This is known as CDN (Content Delivery Network or Content Distribution Network).

In 2009 Cloudflare was created, the aim of which is to offer a solution and optimization in the content distribution network. But in recent years, Cloudflare has set out to protect us from  cyber attacks.

Cloudflare is one of the most secure servers in the content distribution network , acting as intermediaries with  reverse proxies . This favors the timely stop of malicious traffic and spam on the web, in addition to providing protection of personal data.

However, from time to time problems arise, this is caused by failures in the infrastructure. The most common problem is known as error 502 , which is a disadvantage for web pages that depend on Cloudflare. That is why some want to know how to remove Cloudflare from a website.

Steps to deactivate or remove Cloudflare from a website

If you created a web page and you are with the Cloudflare domain , but you want to deactivate or delete it. We will show you how to do it with 2 quick and easy steps.

To remove Cloudflare from a web page, you must access the web domain, regardless of the registrar where they have it (some are for example: Dashboard or WordPress). Once there, we go to the option that says “Custon DNS”, this option is in the “Name Server” section.

In order to deactivate it, we have to delete any Cloudflare name that we have there and for that we reset the settings in the option that says “Namecheap BasicDNS”. That’s how easy we deactivate Cloudflare from our website.

As a second option we can do it directly from the official Cloudflare page . We enter Cloudflare and then select the domain that we want to delete or remove. It is important to remember that the page is constantly updated including its interface. But the steps are the same.

After selecting the domain, we look for the option that says “Advanced Actions” . There are two options “Pause Cloudflare On Stop” and “Remove Site from Cloudflare” . We select this second to completely remove Cloudflare from our website.

It should be noted that the option that says “Pause Cloudflare On Stop” is to deactivate Cloudflare for the period of hours we choose. By choosing this option they will send you an email confirming the deactivation. However, remember that if we exceed the time with Cloudflare deactivated , an automatic deletion of Cloudflare will be done.

With these easy and simple steps we can eliminate Cloudflare from our website to avoid the 502 error or any inconvenience when using this type of program.
