How to create voice note states in WhatsApp

After several months in development, the voice states in WhatsApp arrived as part of the five news that came to this type of publication in the messaging app. Since the announcement, the feature is being rolled out to all users.

If you have something to say in your WhatsApp statuses but you don’t feel like recording a video, the new statuses with audio have arrived as a way to send audios indiscriminately to whoever consults your statuses. We tell you how the new WhatsApp audio states work .

Post WhatsApp audios as statuses

WhatsApp announced a few days ago a package of improvements for its status function. Some of them had been timidly rolling out among beta users for some time, but now we have confirmation that they will end up reaching everyone , beta or not, in the coming weeks.

WhatsApp as a notes app: all the tricks to get the most out of it

The audio statuses are perhaps the most interesting novelty, since until now WhatsApp allowed us to publish texts, photos or videos. Voice notes are now added , although it could be said that it is a bit hidden, because to create a voice status you must press the pencil icon (which sometimes changes to the microphone icon), in the States tab .

The creation of a text status and a voice status is done from the same screen, but if you write text you will not be able to record audio and if you record audio you will not be able to write text. With empty text, the send icon changes to a microphone. Press it to start recording your message.

WhatsApp status voice recorder does not have hands-free mode, so you need to keep the button pressed while recording , and as soon as you stop, the recording will end. You can’t stop and continue recording later .

When the recording is over you can play your audio before sharing it , in addition to changing the background color with the color palette button at the top of the screen. As always, you can edit the privacy of the status -that is, who will be able to see it- by touching the button that appears at the bottom of the window.

If you are happy with what you have just recorded, press the send button and it will be shared with your WhatsApp contacts, who will see it as another status. When other people open this type of status, it plays automatically , just like a video.

As always, you can find out who has seen your status (or listened, in this case) by tapping on the icon at the bottom. These are all the necessary steps to create an audio status in WhatsApp:

  • Open the Statustab in WhatsApp
  • Press the floating button on the pen (or microphone)
  • Hold down the microphone button and record your voice
  • Release the button, preview the audio (if you want) and hit the send button to post it
