How To Connect Roomba to Alexa

After reading my guide on the best Alexa compatible robot vacuum cleaners, did you let yourself be convinced and bought a Roomba robot? you did well, they are a marvel and the brand is definitely a leader in the sector. However, if you still haven’t been able to use the robot vacuum cleaner with Alexa, then read this guide and carefully follow all the steps. The procedure to Connect Roomba to Alexa is not very simple and requires first to configure Roomba with your Wifi network but I promise you that, by following these steps, in less than 10 minutes you will have finished the whole procedure.

Connect Roomba to Alexa

The procedure for connecting Roomba to Alexa is not all that different from those for other smart vacuum cleaners. You will first have to configure the Roomba vacuum cleaner to connect to the home Wifi network and create a Roomba account and then enable the Roomba skill for Alexa.

Configure Roomba

First, download the free iRobot home app (available for android and iOS ) on your smartphone .

Connect the charging station to the power supply in a place in the house that is well covered by the Wifi network. For the next step you will need to use the Bluetooth connection so make sure it is active on your smartphone.

Open the app, select the country and click on continue; on the next screen click on Accept to accept the terms of service

If you are not yet registered on the iRobot site, click on Sign up to create an account which is absolutely necessary to connect Roomba to Alexa. Fill in all the fields and click on Create an account. Keep the chosen password as you will need it later to connect Roomba to Alexa.

Well, the first step of connecting Roomba to Alexa is complete; now you need to configure the Wifi network on your Roomba. The app will automatically search for your Roomba via Bluetooth and once found it will ask you to give it a name; write the name and press on continue.

Now you will have to choose from the list of Wifi networks detected your home network and then you will have to enter the Wi-Fi network password. The procedure for setting up Roomba is almost complete; now you have to put the roomba robot in the base and hold down the Home and  SPOT Clean buttons at the same time until you hear a beep (about 3 seconds) and confirm that you have performed this step in the app by pressing on the writing I pressed the buttons and then on continues.

Pairing Roomba with Alexa

Once you have finished setting up Roomba you will finally be ready to connect Roomba to Alexa. What you need to do now is enable the Alexa skill called iRobot Home ; if you don’t know how to enable skills read this guide. As soon as you click on Enable to use the skill, the iRobot page will automatically open to synchronize the account where you will need to enter the email address and password you used to configure Roomba.

Now you have finally connected your Robot to Alexa and you can control it via voice commands with Amazon echo devices or any device with Integrated Alexa.

To start cleaning, just say “Alexa, ask Roomba to start cleaning.” and to stop it you will have to say Alexa, ask Roomba to stop cleaning. ” . To bring the roomba back to the charging station you will need to say the command “Alexa, ask Roomba to come home” .

To make the robot vacuum cleaner emit a sound if you can’t find it, just say “Alexa, ask Roomba where” and finally to find out if the robot is cleaning or charging you can use the voice command “Alexa, ask Roomba what it is doing”
