How to check the Bluetooth version in Windows 10

Bluetooth is one of the most common ways to transfer files between a mobile device and a computer, but in many cases the Bluetooth version does not support, which creates problems when connecting and transferring files. While most smartphones today support Bluetooth 4.0 or later, you won’t be able to truly transfer files if your Windows 10 computer doesn’t support at least Bluetooth 4.0.

For those who don’t know, Bluetooth 4.0 is an optimized version of Bluetooth technology that expands the capabilities while maintaining compatibility with other devices. It is also called Bluetooth low energy version because it is also supported by small battery-powered devices.

Not everyone actually knows about the Bluetooth profile version of their device, which is very important. However, we can also easily check the Bluetooth version manually, there are also certain tools to help you check the Bluetooth version on your Windows 10 PC.

Find Bluetooth version in Windows 10

You can easily check the Bluetooth version of your Windows 10 PC through Device Manager.

Press Win + X to open the Start menu and select Device Manager .

In the Bluetooth section, you will see several Bluetooth devices.

Select your Bluetooth brand and right click to check Properties .

Go to the Advanced tab and check the firmware version. The LMP number indicates the Bluetooth version your computer is using.

Below is a table of LMP versions

  • LMP 9.x – Bluetooth 5.0
  • LMP 8.x – Bluetooth 4.2
  • LMP 7.x – Bluetooth 4.1
