Spam calls from scammers are a nightmare come true. One day, a tax officer assures you that you transferred a hundred million abroad. Or suddenly you discover that you have a second cousin who got into a car accident and you need money to get him out of jail.
Sometimes it is funny to talk to a person who is trying to deceive you for profit, but the particularly impressionable can fall for it and leave the scammers a tidy sum. Aggressive collectors who ignore the law and call at the wrong time can call from one number.
To ensure your peace of mind and protect yourself from annoying calls, you can add a contact to the blacklist. However, if the recipient of the call has blocked you, and you need to contact them, there is an option on how to do this. We will tell you how to call a blocked number using different methods: both with your smartphone’s own functions and with additional help.
How does the blacklist work in your phone?
Modern gadgets have a function that allows you to clear your phone of spam calls. It is called a blacklist. The phone blocks incoming calls and messages from a specific number so that it will not receive any notifications or SMS. After adding a contact to the blacklist, they will not be able to call you in the usual way: in the call log, a call from a contact on the blacklist will be listed as missed, and messages will go to a special folder.
You can add a number to the blacklist in the Contacts app. In the call log, long press the desired number and select Block in the pop-up window.
How to understand that your contact has been blocked
When your phone number is blocked by another subscriber, you do not receive any notifications. This only becomes clear during the call. It is possible to understand that you are on the blacklist without asking the subscriber directly. Call and if you hear “anomalous” beeps while waiting, then the user has chosen to block you.
“Anomalous” are considered to be too short or too long beeps. They can appear in any other case: if there is a failure on the operator’s side or the smartphone. It is worth calling several times to make sure. The absence of feedback can in principle mean that you have been blocked.
There is a chance that the operator will forward your call to voicemail, saying that the subscriber is currently busy and cannot answer. After that, the call is dropped. Ask your friends to call this number. If an outside call reaches the subscriber, but yours does not, this may mean that you have been blocked.
Ways to reach a subscriber
Thanks to modern technologies, you can bypass the phone blocking and call the desired contact. These methods do not include the items “find another number” or “send five kopecks and a message to Sberbank”. Intelligent systems allow you to ignore internal restrictions and get the signal to the recipient.
Caller ID Blocker
Almost every mobile operator has an “Ignore” function. It allows you to hide your phone number from other users’ devices and display them as a call from an unknown number. If the phone is unknown, then blocking the receiving phone will not work. This conspiracy service will be paid and its cost will directly depend on the operator. For example, MTS charges 8.4 rubles per day for Caller ID. We do not know whether the other person will answer the anonymous call, but the signal will definitely reach the recipient.
This function is available, for example, on some devices with the Android operating system. To connect the caller ID blocker:
- Open “Settings”;
- Go to the “Advanced settings” section;
- Scroll down and find the “Caller ID” item;
- Select your mobile operator and activate the function.
Previously, this method was used by scammers – it was possible to call a specific user from one number forever and be immune to blocking. However, users have become more suspicious and now do not pick up the phone when an unidentified number is displayed on the screen. Therefore, it was necessary to resort to other methods of bypassing blocking.
Unknown numbers
This is another service from mobile operators. Unlike the caller ID blocking, it does not need to be activated in the dealer’s application. This can be done when dialing a phone number. To activate this option, enter the command #31# and then enter the number without a space and after the eight. The cost of this service also depends on the mobile operator.
Unknown Number Feature on iOS
The function of hiding the number is also available in smartphones themselves. By enabling it, you will hide your number from the recipient. This thing is available in most smartphones based on iOS 7 and higher and on some devices with the Android operating system. If you have this function, you will be able to call the person who added you to the blacklist. To enable this function, follow this algorithm:
- Open settings;
- Select “Phone”;
- Open the “Show number” menu;
- Switch the switch to the inactive state.
Unknown Number Feature on Android
A similar service is also available on Android smartphones, if the mobile operator provides such a service. To connect, you need the following steps:
- Turn on your phone;
- Open “Settings”;
- In quick search, enter “Advanced settings”;
- Scroll to advanced call settings;
- Select “Hide Number”.
Applications for hiding number
If the previous methods did not help, there is an option to find a special application. One of the options for the operation of such software is random generation of a phone number. After downloading the application, the user will be able to send messages and make calls in it, this method is considered one of the effective ones. One of these is 2nd Line. With it, you can also call subscribers from the USA and Canada.
Alternative methods of communication
To reach a subscriber, you don’t necessarily have to use telephony services. If your mobile number is blocked, an alternative option would be to call in a messenger. Now almost all support the Internet call function. Messengers such as Viber, Whats App and Telegram will allow you to call a subscriber from your contact list bypassing the classic telephone signal. However, there is a chance of being blocked there too, if you really did something wrong to your interlocutor.
