How to calibrate the color of your Android mobile screen

In this guide, I’m going to explain how to calibrate the color of your Android phone’s screen in a variety of ways. The following sections include some of the most recommended methods to make the images displayed on your device look warmer or cooler. This way, you can adjust the display experience of the panel to your needs. Don’t miss it!

Calibrate the screen color on Android from the settings

Calibrating the screen of an Android phone is not like fixing a dead pixel . In fact, it is a much simpler procedure to perform . That is why most manufacturers include a section dedicated to color calibration in the device’s settings panel.

For example, on our test device, a Xiaomi 11T that I love because it allows me to enjoy the best MIUI tricks , I had to follow these steps:

  1. Enter the phone settings.
  2. Open the Display section .
  3. Access the Color Scheme section .
  4. Choose a default color scheme.
  5. Check the option setting to have the phone automatically adapt the panel tint based on the environment.
  6. Manually choose the color of the screen to give it a warm or cold touch, according to my preferences.

The previous procedure is only included in this guide as an example of the usual settings that manufacturers include regarding the color calibration of the screen. However, if you do not have a Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO, you will have to look for a similar section on your terminal. Typically, brands such as Samsung allow the user to apply this type of changes to the panel colors.

Remember that this trick is not only available on some mobile phones, but also on media players with Android TV or Fire TV . In fact, we already explained how to calibrate the screen on a Fire TV . If you have this device, I recommend taking a look at the linked guide.

Calibrate screen colors with third-party apps

If your phone doesn’t include the option to calibrate colors, contrast or brightness , you can always use third-party applications . This section includes some of the tools for adjusting panel parameters that have the best reviews on the Play Store.

Please note that in most cases, what these apps do is apply a layer to the screen, which is continuously displayed on top of the rest of the apps. This can increase battery consumption or affect performance in some cases . However, if you are having problems with the colors on your screen and your device does not offer you the possibility to adjust this from the settings, you might want to consider installing one of these utilities.

An old tool that still receives good reviews from users looking to improve the colors on their screen.

Despite being last updated in 2015, Adjust Display is now, for many users, the go-to tool for problems with tinted screens. It’s very easy to use. First, create a filter that reduces the color cast or decreases excessive brightness. Then, use the Screen Test feature to view the results of the filter and detect dead pixels. Plus, it comes with a fun feature called Filter Effect , with the Scanline Effect option , which transforms the screen to simulate a CRT monitor, adding a creative touch to your viewing experience.
