How to build an automatic farm in Minecraft

Automatic chicken farm in Minecraft

An automated chicken farm is one of the simpler projects. To build it, you will need a funnel, a chest, a bucket, 36 fence sections, and at least one chicken.

  1. Find a field with at least 10×10 free blocks next to your hideout.
  2. Lure the chickens to the field. They will run after you if you hold the seeds in your hand.
  3. Fence a field – you will need exactly 36 fence sections.
  4. In the center of the field, dig a hole two blocks deep and place the chest in the hole.
  5. Connect a funnel to the chest. To do this, you need to squat down and place it on the chest (on PC: Shift + right mouse button).
  6. Then, dig a passage from outside the field to the chest so you can empty it underground.
  7. Almost done! Fill the bucket with water and place a water block in each corner of the fence. That’s it – the farm is working, and the eggs fall into the chest underground!

How it works? Water blows all objects to the center of the field -> chickens do not drown, but continue to lay eggs -> the funnel is connected to the chest and automatically sucks all the eggs that are above it into the chest placed under it.

If you keep ten to twenty chickens outside the fence, the crate will quickly fill with eggs. By breaking them, you can grow new chickens. There is a small chance that a chick will hatch from the egg, which will have to be lured behind the fence again.

Automatic sugarcane farm in Minecraft

Need sugar cane? For this fully automatic sugarcane farm, you’ll need pistons, a bucket, lots of soil, a funnel, a chest, redstone, red dust, and a redstone counter (see below).

  1. Build a ladder from the ground, one block wide. The longer the ladder, the more sugarcane you can grow.
  2. Limit the stairs to the left and right by placing a block of earth on each side.
  3. At the foot of the stairs, dig a hole two blocks deep. Place the chest and funnel in it, and then dig a tunnel to access the chest underground (just like with the chicken farm).
  4. Place a water block at the top of the building. It should make a water slide!
  5. Plant sugar cane in all blocks of land that border water.
  6. Place another block of earth behind each sugarcane block. Place a plunger on each with the wooden surface facing the sugar cane.
  7. Place a redstone counter at the top or bottom of the waterslide. Connect each piston to the counter with red dust and redstone.
  8. Step on the counter pressure plate and retreat immediately. The sugarcane factory is working!

How it works? Once the sugar cane is high enough, the pistons will push the top of the cane into the water. Again, the water will serve as a conveyor belt leading to the chest. Since the roots of the sugarcane remain intact, the plants continue to grow, and you can simply harvest from the chest.

Counter for cars in Minecraft

We’ll show you in a moment how to create a simple counter to help you drive cars in Minecraft. To do this, you will need four redstone boosters, four redstones, and a PCB.

  1. Place the four red stones at the corners of the 3×3 square on the ground. Fill in the gaps between the two red stones with amplifiers.
  2. It is important in which direction the amplifier is pointing! Stand on the red stone and place the amplifier in the empty space. Then stand on the red stone that you just connected and repeat the action for all empty places.
  3. Increase the switching delay of the amplifiers to the maximum. To do this, right-click (PC) on the amplifier until the two torches are located as far apart as possible.
  4. Place the PCB next to the red stones. Step on the board and get off it immediately.
  5. The bright red signal of the redstone should now travel in a circle through the “wires”. The counter is working! Connect cars with other red stones.
