How to make a speed potion in Minecraft?
Before you decide to start brewing potions, you should stock up on the basic items that will be needed to create absolutely any potion. Since this is the basis and the character will not be able to do without it. So you should definitely have with you:
- Brewing stand (aka potion brewer).
- Several flasks (they are also potion bottles).
- Blaze Powder (this is the fuel for the potion brewer)
Speed Potion
It is a basic version of potions of this category. The duration of such a potion is 3 minutes. At the same time, the effect of the basic speed potion increases the level of movement speed by 20%, which is equivalent to almost 7 blocks per second (while moving). And after application, the character receives the effect of “Speed”.
To create a regular speed potion, in addition to the materials presented at the beginning, you will also need to have:
- Crude Potion (crafted using Nether Wart Seeds and Flasks of Water).
- Sugar (can be obtained from bottles of honey or cane).

Speed Potion II
This variant of the speed potion is the most powerful in terms of the “Speed” effect. The only downside is the duration. The second level speed potion is the shortest potion. It lasts for 1:30 minutes, but in return it increases the character’s speed level by 40%, which is equivalent to 8 blocks per second. In any case, if you decide to brew such a potion, then keep in mind that you need to have with you:
- Lightstone Dust (can be obtained from Lightstone in the Nether).
- Speed Potion (the most common one will do, since it serves as the basis for the upgrade).
Don’t forget that in addition to the ingredients presented, you will also need basic items such as a potion maker and fire powder, which was discussed at the beginning. Exploding Speed Potion

As a result, you get an explosive speed potion, depending on the potion chosen as a base. Thus, you need to have with you:
- Gunpowder (obtained from creepers , ghasts , witches or trade).
- Speed Potion (regular, enhanced “+” or second level “II”).

How to get speed potion?

At first glance, it may seem that the speed potion is a secondary potion. In other words, there is no point in bothering with its crafting, but in fact, this is absolutely not true.
