How to block the rotation of our iPhone at the speed of light

Locking the screen rotation of our iPhone is something that we end up doing several times throughout the day . Of course we can go to the Control Center for it, but there is an even easier way to do it. One that only requires a few taps on the iPhone.

A lightning fast rotation lock

It’s really simple to go into Control Center and tap the screen rotation lock button. Simply swipe down from the top right corner of the screen to do so. This gesture, however , can be awkward at times, perhaps using the iPhone with one hand . Fortunately, if you have an iPhone 8 or later running iOS 14 or later, we can simplify the process.

We can configure our iPhone so that a double tap on the back activates or deactivates the screen rotation. Something we will do following these steps:

  1. We open the Settingsapp on our iPhone.
  2. We enter Accessibility.
  3. We enter Touch.
  4. At the bottom we tap on Play Back.
  5. We chose Double tap.
  6. We choose Lock Rotation.

Nothing more, we can now leave the Settings app behind and verify that a couple of touches on the back, not excessively strong, but not undetectable either, will make our iPhone lock and unlock the screen rotation. If we see that this double tap is too sensitive for us , we can, in step five, choose triple tap, with less chance of being activated by mistake.

The trick that was missing so that iOS 16 was perfect is achieved by this little shortcut

A really simple resource, as we can see. One of the many accessibility features that our iPhones enjoy that, at a given moment, can greatly facilitate some procedures . So much so that we only have to tap a couple of times on the back of our iPhone.
