How to Backup WhatsApp to Google Drive

One of the most common problems that WhatsApp users face is when they want to change the Android phone they are using.

If we use WhatsApp on a new Android phone, then all previous conversations will not automatically move.

We must first backup WhatsApp to Google Drive. Only later will all our conversations be restored .

And in the Androbuntu article this time I will show you how to suggest WhatsApp to Google Drive to make it easier for you to replace your Android phone.

Function to Suggest WhatsApp to Google Drive

As we all know that WhatsApp is an instant messaging application that uses the peer-to-peer method , meaning that the conversations we send will be sent directly to the recipient, not transiting to WhatsApp’s servers first.

Therefore, all of our chat data is stored in the internal storage of our Android phone. And if we want to move the WhatsApp account to another Android phone, then all the chats will not move.

Therefore, this is where the function of Google Drive is, namely as a place to “store” all your WhatsApp conversations, which can later be returned if we use a new Android cellphone or when we reset our Android cellphone.

All conversations that are backed up on Google Drive include text conversations, voice messages, pictures or photos, to videos.

So you don’t have to worry about losing one of them. Because everything will be stored in Google Drive.

The tutorial below can only be done on an Android phone , because if you use WhatsApp on an iPhone, the available backup method is iCloud .

How to Backup WhatsApp to Google Drive

Open the WhatsApp application on your Android phone. Then go to the Settings menu . This menu can be accessed by tapping the three-dot button in the upper right corner of the WhatsApp application.

After entering the Settings menu , select Chat . Then select Chat backup .

Next select Google Account , a small window will appear showing a selection of all Google accounts that are currently logged in on your Android phone. Choose on which Google account you want to back up these WhatsApp conversations.

Once selected, another window will appear containing information that WhatsApp will access your Google Drive to save data. Tap the Allow button .

Furthermore, Androbuntu friends can choose a backup time, you can choose a daily, weekly or monthly time. You can even choose to back up only when you want.

If you use WhatsApp very often, then I recommend selecting “Daily” when choosing a backup time.

This is very suitable to be chosen if you use WhatsApp to receive orders from consumers. So every day your Androbuntu friend’s WhatsApp conversations will be safe on Google Drive.

But if you don’t use WhatsApp very often, you can choose weekly and monthly options.

So later when you want to use a new Android phone, you just need to login to WhatsApp and the same Google account, then select the restore menu on WhatsApp.

All your WhatsApp conversation history will automatically return to you, from text, voice, image to video conversations.
