How to activate Chrome’s spell checker

Having Chrome’s spell checker activated can save us from any gaffe when it comes to spelling and grammar.

Chrome’s spell checker works for everything we write using that browser . That is, from a simple Google search, writing a comment on a website, writing a post on Facebook, etc.

Turn Google auto sync on and off

Chrome’s spell checker supports multiple languages , so it will correct spelling mistakes in different languages such as English, Spanish, Basque, French, Catalan, Italian, German, Greek, Hungarian, Japanese, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Persian, etc.

This checker helps, as with Word , to prevent us from typing with spelling mistakes . So yes, we can activate spell checking in multiple languages.

Normally it is activated by default , but just in case we think it is not activated, we are going to start the steps to activate it. A very simple process that will only take a few minutes. You can also make yourself a coffee and before it’s done, you’ll have Chrome’s spell checker active.

  • We enter the Chrome settings by clicking on the 3 vertical dots on the Google page and clicking on “Settings” .
  • In the search bar we put “Corrector” .
  • We choose the option “Spell Check” .
  • We activate the “Enhanced spell check” and mark “Spanish”.

Now we go out, close everything and we would already have the Chrome spell checker activated on our laptop, desktop PC, tablet, etc.

It is convenient to do this process every time we acquire a new device, as long as Chrome is our default browser, and even if it is not, as it helps to make the searches and forms submitted without errors and more accurate.

The spell checker does not only exist for Chrome, there are also other browsers that innately include that feature such as Firefox . There are others that require an extension.

So, every time we write, if we have a fault, it will be reflected with a slight red underline . There is also another type of underlining such as gray, which indicates other options when we click the right mouse button.
