How long does it take to beat Metroid Dread?

For the first time in nearly two decades, an entirely new 2D Metroid game was released. In 2002, Metroid Fusion took about five hours to complete. However, this new title gives Metroid fans a bit more to chew on than the latest new game. Here’s everything you need to know how long it takes to beat Metroid Dread .

How long does it take to beat Metroid Dread?

Really, the answers you get when you ask how long it takes to beat a game tend to be extremely subjective. Some players like to see every part of the map and grab all the collectibles or upgrades, and others may want to check it out as quickly as possible. Since everyone plays differently, we have divided the total playing time into three categories: Story Only, Story + Partial Exploration, and 100%.

“Story only” means that you simply play the parts necessary to get to the final boss and eliminate him. ‘Story + Some Exploration’ looks a lot like the latter, but you’re only looking for a few secrets, not all. The “100%” players know who they are. This type of execution involves searching for each update, getting all the Chozo files, etc.

With that said, the table below shows the estimated times based on practical experience with Metroid Dread. These times are very fluid and depend largely on the skills of the players. Either of these playstyles can take an hour or two longer if you die often.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BEAT METROID DREAD?
Just history 6-7 hours
History + Exploration 9-10 hours
100% 11-12 hours

The only style of play that the table lacks is speedrun because the situation is changing too fast. So far, some players have been able to complete the game in less than two hours. It looks like it will be a decent time for the first Metroid Dread sprints. However, that number is likely to decline rapidly as more people access the game and find new jumps. Also, speedruns.com doesn’t even have official hours yet.

That’s all there is to know how long it takes to beat Metroid Dread . And while you’re here, don’t forget to check out some of our other awesome Metroid Dread guides on EMMI, use their stop, or grab the Hookshot Beam.
