One of the side quests in Horizon Zero Dawn involves finding five Fuel Cells. Once you find each one, you’ll unlock the Shield Weaver armor. It gives Aloy a blue bar on top of her health bar, indicating that she has an energy shield. While the shield is active, Aloy’s health does not decrease. What’s more, the shield will automatically regenerate if Aloy takes no damage for a few seconds.
The Ancient Armory quest is taken after you find one of the fuel cells, or when visiting the bunker located in the Embrace. In the ruins, where you need to go down through a large pit, you will find the armor. It will be behind glass. On the right, there is a room with holostacks, but two fuel cells are missing. When you open the door using two elements, you will find fasteners that prevent Aloy from taking the armor. To remove them, you will have to find three more elements and solve the second puzzle.
First, about the location of all fuel elements:
1. During the quest “Womb of the Mountain” you will find yourself inside the cave of Mother’s Heart. After retrieving your gear, do not rush to follow Tirsa. Instead, look for a small alcove in the hallway where there is a ventilation shaft. Crouch and follow it to a secret room with an item.
2. Next, return to the ruins at the bottom of the Embrace, where Aloy fell as a child. There is a passage with rocks that you can break. Behind them is a room with a fuel cell.
3. During the mission “Master’s Reach” you will find yourself in the ruins of the same name. At the top there will be an office with a long table. Here you will watch three holographic recordings featuring Dr. Sobeck and Faro. Turn around to see an elevator shaft. You will go back down it, but first climb up to the visor, and from there climb even higher along the beams to Fuel Cell #3.
4. Reach the “Death Hoard” quest. While doing it, you’ll find yourself in another ruin with the same name. When you reach the door that you have to open by solving three puzzles with holoclocks, do so and look behind the door for a fuel cell that’s not hidden in any way.
5. Finally, while completing the “Fallen Mountain” quest, you’ll find yourself in the ruins. One of the rooms is Silence’s workshop. You’ll pass through it at the beginning and return at the end of the mission to install a device on the spear that will help you finish off Hades. It’s best to follow the element at the end of the mission. Go through the door with the scanner again, but don’t climb down the rope this time. Look to the left. There are barely noticeable ledges that allow you to get lower at the entrance to the cave on the left. Go through it and get to the last element.
Then solve two puzzles in the ruins of the ancient armory where the armor is located:
– up, right, left, down
– up, down, left, right
Take the armor and enjoy a worthy reward!
