Honey

The honey is one of the quintessential traditional remedies when treating a sore throat , this is because a study showed that can relieve cough more effectively with the nonprescription medicines , honey is an antitussive .

If you don’t like honey , we can take it in this exquisite way:

  1. We mix two teaspoons of honey with tea
  2. We add a little warm water with lemon

In this way we will make the honey soothe the throat while the lemon will help us with nasal congestion . Another way to take honey if we don’t like it is with a little bread, it will take away all the flavor and help us.

Mint

The mint has great healing properties , this is due to several factors that can be found in the leaves of this. The menthol that it has soothes our throat and acts as a decongestant , helping to break down the mucus that is clogging our throat .

You can do two things with mint :

  1. Make a peppermint tea and also adding a touch of lemon
  2. Inhale the peppermint fumes

Both options can help us. To inhale the mint vapors we will have to heat a saucepan of water with 4 drops of peppermint oil, place a towel on our head and breathe deeply over the water.

Thyme

The thyme is also often used for respiratory diseases, one study suggests that the extracted essence of thyme leaves mixed with ivy can help relieve cough and bronchitis short term.

The best way to take thyme at home is by making a tea , for this we will use 2 teaspoons of crushed thyme leaves and a cup of boiling water. We cover the cup and let it rest for 10 minutes. Once settled we strain and enjoy our tea.

The leaves contain compounds called flavonoids which are what will relax the throat muscles that make us have a cough , it will also help reduce inflammation .

If the cough persists, do not hesitate to see your GP, it can be an even bigger problem and it is best to treat it as soon as possible.
