In this article, you will learn about the advantages and disadvantages of the main Crossout weapon, as well as what modules it is best to use with.
In this guide, we will share with you the basic information on the main classes of weapons, talk about the pros and cons, and point out the synergies of each with other hardware modules.
Please note that this article only covers BASIC, basic weapons such as machine guns, shotguns and cannons. Excluded from the guide are more specific weapons, which include howitzer, drones, AI-controlled weapons, relics, grenade launchers and proximal mines.
First, let’s list all the categories of primary weapons that the game offers:
- Machine guns.
- Tower cannons.
- Conventional cannons.
- Automatic cannons.
- Homing missiles.
- Course guns.
- Contact weapons.
Let’s start our article with weapons of the main type, which, of course, include machine guns.
Machine gun
Benefits :
- High rate of fire.
- Good range.
- Average accuracy.
- Low energy consumption when collecting blueprints.
- Unlimited Ammo.
- Can shoot in any direction.
Disadvantages :
- High bullet spread in case of prolonged shooting.
- Low margin of structure (strength).
- Poor accuracy at long distances.
- Low damage.
Synergy :
- Coolers allow you to reduce the reload time of the gun in case of overheating.
- Best used with two chillers.
Machine guns are one of the most common weapons in Crossout . In general, this is the first weapon every beginner starts with, but this does not mean that it is the worst and is suitable only in the early stages. Currently, there are five machine guns – the usual “P-54M Akkord”, the rare “P-23 Defender” and “6P5-4 Vector”, as well as the epic “Spectrum-2” and “Caucasus”. To date, there is not a single legendary machine gun, but I am more than sure that it will appear later.
Spectrum-2
Machine guns can be called “multipurpose” weapons. However, they are best used at medium to close range. They provide consistent firepower with good accuracy and range.
I would suggest a machine gun to anyone who loves to fight in close or medium combat. This is a great option for quick builds. It should be noted that the machine gun turret rotates almost instantly. The total damage often depends on the firing range – the larger the range, the lower the accuracy and damage done. The best synergy for machine guns is the cooler. You don’t need radiators because the weapon has a fairly high overheating threshold. And the accuracy of shooting is significantly reduced if there is continuous fire.
The best build is with one or two coolers, since you only have to worry about the recharge time after overheating. I also highly recommend shooting in short bursts instead of long continuous firing. The main reason is, as stated above, the loss of accuracy. However, if the enemy is close, you can still shoot without interruption. Machine guns consume up to four units of energy (maximum).
Shotgun
Benefits :
- Huge damage when shooting at close range.
- Low energy consumption.
- A light weight.
- Can shoot in all directions.
Disadvantages :
- Effective only at short distances.
- Low safety margin.
- Long recharge time.
- Low rate of fire.
- Low accuracy (large spread).
Synergy :
- You can use a bundle of cooler and radiator.
- If you choose one thing, then we focus on radiators.
A shotgun is a shotgun in Crossout too! Of course, we are talking about a weapon that is effective only in close combat. But how effective! Shotguns do tremendous damage in a very short time, but after about every three to four shots they need to reload. But the recharge time is long enough. Shotguns are also useless at medium to long range, but are generally quite small so they are easy enough to hide anywhere. At the moment, there are six types of shotguns in the game – the usual “Sawed-Off”, rare “Hearth”, “Sledgehammer” and “KP2 Goblin”, the epic “Thunder” and the legendary “Hammer”.
Thunder
As mentioned earlier, shotguns can only be used in close combat. Do not bother shooting at anything that is at a distance of “over five cars”, because you really do not inflict damage, but only overheat the weapon. I can assure you that as soon as you get close, with one or two shots you will inflict such damage that at medium range requires 10-15 hits. I also highly recommend using fast builds with shotguns.
The main reason for a fast car is that enemies will have less time to respond to you. And the player with shotguns himself needs to get close to the target as soon as possible, otherwise it can counterattack (or even start the attack first) and inflict huge damage before the “owner of the shotguns” has time to respond in kind.
The Cooler is a great module that you should use with shotguns. They are very important in shotgun builds as the latter have too long cooldowns. Another great addition is the Chameleon. With it, you can get close to opponents without missing out on damage.
Turret cannon
Benefits :
- High safety factor (structure).
- Can shoot in all directions.
- Long range.
- Perfect precision.
- High explosive damage.
Disadvantages :
- Limited ammunition.
- Huge dimensions.
- Long recharge.
- Low rate of fire.
- Low turret traverse speed (while aiming).
- Great weight.
- High energy consumption.
Synergy :
- The “Ammunition” module will increase the number of available shells for one battle.
- The sight will allow you to hit opponents at great distances.
- The powerful Mk2 engine will increase reload speed.
Tower Cannons are large caliber weapons that deal explosive damage when in contact with a target. Cannon projectiles fly in a ballistic curve and, when used correctly, can hit targets at great distances. The main difference between turret and conventional cannons is that the former can rotate at an angle of 3600. Unfortunately, the speed of rotation of the weapon is not that great, which is associated with a decent mass. To date, there are three turret guns in the game – the rare Kid 6F, the epic ZIS-34 Fat Man and the legendary Mammoth. Most of these weapons belong to the Scavengers’ workbench.
ZIS-34 Fat Man
Tower cannons deal massive damage when hit. Their explosive projectiles are capable of destroying enemy armor and weapons in a few hits. Before you can hit opponents at great distances, you will need to practice well. Also, in order to increase the usefulness of the weapon, we recommend using additional modules, including the “Ammunition” (and its improved version), which is the only way to increase the supply of ammunition. Indeed, this weapon has a limited ammunition and without such a module you will very soon become helpless.
You can also equip your car with a crosshair, which allows you to bring distant opponents closer while zooming. If you want to increase the reload speed of the weapon, then be sure to use the powerful Mk2 engine – this is the only way to do this, since the coolers do not work with this type of weapon.
Tower cannons increase the mass of the vehicle due to the greater weight of the shells themselves. Therefore, a more powerful engine will help you! Tower cannons consume up to six units of energy, so be sure to use generators to place more than one such cannon on a vehicle.
Conventional cannons
Advantages :
- High safety margin.
- Reload speed is faster than turret cannons.
- Long range.
- Excellent accuracy.
- High explosive damage.
Disadvantages :
- Limited ammunition.
- Large dimensions.
- Long recharge.
- Low rate of fire.
- Can shoot at a limited angle.
- Very heavy.
- High energy consumption.
Synergy :
- The “Ammunition” module will increase the number of available shells for one battle.
- The sight will allow you to hit opponents at great distances.
- The powerful Mk2 engine will increase reload speed.
Conventional cannons are very similar to turret cannons, but they still have a few differences. They cannot rotate in place, so of them you can only aim at those opponents that are in range (in front of the gun barrel). If the enemy is on the side, and the cannon is looking forward, then you will have to turn the car to aim at it. Conventional cannons have the highest damage per shot – even more than turret cannons. Four such guns are currently available – the regular Avenger 57mm, the rare Judge 76mm, the epic Executioner 88mm and the legendary KP-17 Tsunami.
Executioner 88mm
Despite the fact that conventional cannons are very similar in characteristics to turret cannons, they consume a little less energy. Most of them require no more than five units, with the exception of KP-17 Tsunami, which still requires six energy points. The cannons are much more accurate, and their shells fly a little faster. The reload time has also been improved, and in combination with the powerful Mk2 engine, the situation will become even more attractive.
Conventional cannons have a lower health factor than turret cannons, but they are also lighter than them. This is the best sniper weapon to mount on larger, high-mass vehicles. They don’t need to be as fast as players using machine guns or shotguns, but they should still have more or less acceptable maneuverability, since only when cornering can you change the angle of fire. That is why I suggest using tracks in builds with conventional guns instead of wheels. They will allow you to spin quickly in place. The sight is also required!
