Green Hell – How to start your camp well?

Before you jump into the main story of Green Hell , I advise you to settle in. After you have established your camp, you can then devote yourself to finding Mia. For now I will tell you what is the best location to set up your camp and what are the best facilities to build .

Find the right place

For my part I find that the best place to settle is the first tribal village that you will find, it is quite easy to get there. When you wake up after being driven out by the natives, go straight ahead and you are bound to stumble upon it.

Why is this the best place? For several reasons it is ideal for survival . On the various parts that I have done, each time I have moved here I have not had a problem. My biggest fear was that once a jaguar came to visit me but he left as quickly as he arrived.

  1. You have unlimited access to water and mud because you are next to a river.
  2. There is a hammock, which will save you from building a bed.
  3. The camp is located right next to a field of banana trees, which gives you unlimited palm leaves and some bananas as long as you don’t break the tree trunks (otherwise they won’t grow again).
  4. In the meadow next door you will find three mammals at all times, a reliable food source.

Facilities to build in your camp

Now that you have found your place, you have to settle in , it will go through several stages.

Step 1: The fire

Build a frame and a banana leaf roof. You will find all the constructions in your journal. For the frame, you will need 4 logs, 5 long sticks and 4 ropes . Logs and long sticks can be found by cutting down trees. For the banana leaf roof you will need 16 of its leaves. Once this first construction is finished, install a small fire below your shelter.

Step 2: the dryer

In the camp you can find a drying rack, except that it is in the wrong place. The dryer will not work if it is raining. Destroy and pick up what’s left of it. Build a second frame and a second banana leaf roof. Now install your dryer, for this you will need 7 long sticks, 11 ropes, 11 small sticks and 3 bone hooks . For ropes you can find them by collecting lianas from large trees. For bone hooks you will have to find bones (by killing an animal for example), right click and harvest on it. This will give you a bone needle that you can turn into a hook in the crafting menu.

Now you can keep your meat much longer (five days for raw meats) before it rots.

Step 3: mud

You can make mud constructions, some of them are essential. To do this, go to the river, right click on the water and then press pick up mud, this will mark various fabrications directly in your journal.

Start by building a mud mixer, you will need 4 sticks and 8 logs. Once created, go look for two blocks of mud in the river, add ashes, you can find them when your campfire is totally consumed or right click to harvest on a piece of coal. Once everything is mixed, it will need to be watered, I advise you to wait until it rains, during that time go hunting. Once sufficiently moistened you can mix everything together, which will give mud bricks.

Step 4: the charcoal oven

With your mud bricks you can build a charcoal oven, you can put it where you placed your first campfire under the frame. To build the oven, you will need 3 mud bricks . Once the construction is finished reinstall a small fire in it. You can now cook your food but also wood to collect charcoal . Know that your fire will never stop if you feed it with coal.

Step 5: the plantations

For the rest, I advise you to build a large planter. For this you will need 4 sticks and 4 logs . Once ready, slide your seeds into the earth and you’re done. You have to water it, but since it rains often you don’t have to do anything. To collect seeds, pick fruit, right click harvest on it and you will get some.

Step 6: set traps around the camp

In the banana field next to the camp, you will find a cage trap, looking at it you will get the map of it. You will need 6 small sticks, 16 sticks and 4 ropes . I advise you to have it all around the camp. Preferably in virgin places, in order to find them more easily. Cage traps can rearm for multiple use.

Step 7: the trunk

Finally, I advise you to build a chest, you can then store various objects in it to avoid overloading yourself. To do this, you will need 10 sticks, 2 mud bricks and 2 kindling boards . You can now store various and varied items, however, be careful of anything that expires.
