Golden Armor in Sons Of The Forest
Between the release of Sons Of The Forest in Early Access and the release, the location of the gold armor changed several times. This guide contains the full change history, including the current location.
Where can I find gold armor after release?
After leaving Early Access and the release of version 1.0, the golden armor was renamed to ancient. However, it remained in the same cave where update 02 moved it.
However, the cave itself has changed noticeably. For convenience, we have compiled a step-by-step walkthrough of this cave and put it in a separate guide . In it, we not only told you how to find gold armor, but also described in detail how to exit the cave.
Where to find gold armor after update 02?
This update moved the gold armor to a new cave, the entrance to which is shown on the GPS tracker below. To enter, you need to break the boards blocking your way.
Before you go there, be sure to get scuba gear and some more powerful weapons , because inside the cave you will have to fight strong opponents, including demons. By the way, a cross that makes demons literally burn helps against them.
After that, you need to move through the cave, focusing on the traces of gold metal. All the passages you need are marked with it. If at some fork you start to doubt, follow the gold metal.
Eventually, you’ll reach a large hall, in the center of which there will be a large metal podium from the screenshot below with gold armor in the middle. In the corner of the same hall, there’s a rope illuminated by a projector – it’s where your long journey to the exit of the cave begins.
Where to find gold armor before update 02?
Before you can go looking for the gold armor, you’ll need to find a shovel and then use it to dig up a staff keycard . After Update 1, you’ll also need to find a guest keycard to get into this safehouse .
Now head to the largest lake on the map, located behind the mountain range on the other side of the island. The place with the entrance to this shelter will be marked on your map with a green beacon, we have shown the necessary point on the GPS tracker below.
Once you enter the cave, go forward and descend the rocks until you reach the shelter. Go down the stairs until you reach a door; to unlock it, you will need the keycard you received earlier. Go down again and go through the orange door.
Why do you need golden armor?
Golden armor has a very pompous name and completely fills your armor indicator with gold. Unfortunately, it does not protect against all enemies.
For example, this armor will be completely useless against cannibals, but will absorb as much as 70% of damage (before update 02 it was 90%) from demons that you encounter in some caves.

Golden Mask in Sons Of The Forest
In addition to the golden armor, in the same shelter you can also find a golden mask, which will help you hide from the close attention of the natives.
Where to find the golden mask?
From the room where you found the gold armor, return to the hallway and continue down the stairs to level 5. The doors leading to levels 3 and 4 will be locked.
At the end of the hallway on level 5, there’s a door buried with a keycard. It leads to the exit of this vault, so we’re going the other way. Before leaving the location, go through the door on the left and grab the golden mask from the body on the couch.
How to use gold mask?
Once you have the golden mask, select it in your inventory and take it in your hand. Then hold down the left mouse button to press the mask to your face. If the natives have not seen you before, they will practically stop paying attention to you.
However, you won’t be able to quickly get out of a fight with it. And it’s not very convenient to walk around the forest with this thing.
