Get more out of subtitles on Kodi with these simple changes

If we get into the extended world of multimedia players, we find a good number of programs of this type. Among them there are some that stand out from the rest in terms of popularity and use, as in the cases of Kodi or VLC.

But as we tell you, the number of programs to choose from that we have here at our fingertips is enormous. We can find them focused on video, or only on audio, in addition to some more complete than others in terms of functions. In addition, aspects such as the stability of the program, its compatibility with formats, or the interface they offer us are very important here.

Here, as we mentioned before, both VLC and Kodi will not disappoint us. Along these same lines we are going to focus on this second proposal, Kodi, an open source project that does not stop growing. It has a very own interface that almost isolates us from the operating system itself, hence it is considered a complete multimedia center. As you can imagine, the program has a multitude of functions and implemented features that we can use for free.

Well, once we know all this, now we are going to focus on the subtitles section. In fact we are going to talk about some changes that you can carry out in the multimedia player itself in order to get the most out of these useful elements.

Set a preferred subtitle language

Kodi is able to work with these elements in different ways, since we can integrate them manually, search for them, add them automatically, etc. That is why depending on the use we make of these, for example if we want them to learn languages, it is preferable that we specify the preferred subtitle language.

This is something that we have the possibility to configure independently of the language that we will use in the program’s user interface . This is found in Settings / Player / Language.

Customize the size of the texts

These subtitles in the Kodi video player that we usually use in the content that we play from here, are made up of text that we have to read and follow. That is why for its use to be more optimal, we must customize the size of the characters and adapt it to our needs. This is something that we can carry out from the same section indicated before.

Thus, if necessary, we only have to click on the size field and define a value. Now we can go testing in order to leave the one that interests us the most depending on each case.

Modify color, font and opacity of subtitles in Kodi

On the other hand, not in all the videos that we reproduce here, they have the same luminosity, tone or general color. That is why depending on the type of content that we are going to display with subtitles, we may be interested in adjusting parameters such as its color , font or opacity.

For all this that we tell you, again we go to Configuration / Player / Language, where we find independent fields for these parameters. Thus, we only have to choose the option that interests us the most for each one.

Change the position of Kodi subtitles

As a general rule, by default these additional texts of the videos can be read at the bottom of the screen. But this is not always the best option, so Kodi also allows us to decide the position where we want these to appear. We can place them at the top, or even superimposed on the video content itself .
