Fix sound issues in Call of Duty Warzone

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been out for a while and despite some previous hurdles regarding bugs and glitches, the game has quickly managed to establish itself as the best dog in the multiplayer first-person shooter genre. In fact, Modern Warfare is the most successful Call of Duty game of this generation and the momentum is also showing no signs of abating anytime soon.

Fix sound issues in Call of Duty Warzone

Early last month, Activision released Call of Duty: Warzone, which is the Battle Royale game mode for Modern Warfare. However, defying the trend of previous entries in the franchise, Warzone came out as a free standalone game, meaning that anyone could participate without having to buy Modern Warfare.

This led to a massive spike in numbers, making Warzone one of the most played games right now, outperforming even players like Fortnite. While the initial wave of players did cause some performance issues in the game, Infinity Ward has been working hard to fix the remaining bugs.

However, despite the developer’s continued efforts, people are still finding new ways to break the game. While this particular issue we’re discussing today may not be the most common issue in the game, it can prove critical.

Many Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare players have reported that they cannot be heard in chat during gameplay, regardless of whether they are partying with their friends or not. Even more puzzling is the fact that the microphone of players with this problem is registered in everything else except in-game audio chat, which means that the problem lies in the game and not anywhere else.

How To Fix ‘Multiplayer DLC Packs Missing’ Error In Call of Duty

Communication is a key part of any game, especially when it comes to a tactical first-person shooter like Warzone or Modern Warfare. Not having the ability to speak can seriously harm your team and affect your chances of winning. Fortunately though, this issue isn’t actually a bug within the game itself, it’s just a matter of messing with the settings.

So if your headset’s microphone works but others still can’t hear it within in-game audio chat, just follow these steps to fix your problem:

Launch Call of Duty: Modern Warfare or Call of Duty: Warzone.
When you’re in the game, open the Game Options menu.
Within Options, navigate to account settings.
In Account Settings, make sure your Crossplay settings are turned on. This will help you in case you are trying to have fun with people who play on a different platform.

Once the Crossplay settings have been enabled, also enable Crossplay Communication. This setting will allow you to communicate with people who play on a different platform.

While many audio chat issues arise from the Crossplay Communication settings, there are still a couple of additional things you can do in case you haven’t fixed it. So follow these steps to make sure everything works as expected:

In the Game Options menu, navigate to the Audio settings.
Under Audio, set the Voice Chat option to ‘On’.
At the bottom of the Audio settings, you will see the ‘check microphone level’ button. Press that button and speak into your microphone to see the level of background noise and the volume of your microphone.

Once you’ve determined those things, select an appropriate level for the ‘Open Mic Recording Threshold’ setting. Make sure you don’t set this too high as that can also prevent others from hearing you.
Save your settings and restart your game.
