Fishing Rust: how to fish?

When playing Rust, all players sooner or later face the feeling of hunger of the in-game character. If the hunger is not satisfied, then the character will very soon die of exhaustion and will have to revive either on the beach or in the house, if they have already managed to rebuild at least some wagon . You can satisfy your hunger in Rust with many types of food, on our website there is a separate guide with food in Rust . However, with the advent of submarines and new laboratories, a new type of food was added to the game – fish in Rust, which we will discuss in this article.

How to fish in Rust

Types of fish in the game

Sardine, anchovy and herring

Sardine, anchovy, and herring are the easiest fish in Rust to catch. They don’t need any serious bait. These three representatives of the underwater world differ only in their appearance and the final production when cutting.

By butchering a sardine, you will receive 1 piece of bone, 1 raw fish, and 5 units of animal fat . After butchering an anchovy, you will receive 2 bone fragments, raw fish, and a unit of animal fat. The herring after cutting it will give you a bone fragment, 2 raw fish and a unit of animal fat.

All 3 aquatic representatives can be found everywhere.

Yellow perch and small trout

Yellow perch and small trout are harder to catch than the previous type of fish. They both need at least level 3 bait.

Yellow perch can only be found in rivers and swamps. Small trout swims in the ocean and near underwater laboratories.

Butchering a Yellow Bass yields 6 Bone Pieces, 5 Raw Fish, and 9 Animal Fat. Small trout will give you the same items, only one less, that is, 5 bone fragments, 4 raw fish and 8 units of animal fat.

Fishing rod

How to craft

The homemade fishing rod is learned by all players by default, and therefore does not need to be learned. Crafting is possible without a workbench, which makes it easier to create an item. To create one fishing rod, you will have to spend 200 units of wood and 2 units of rope.

Fishing rod

How to use to fish

In order to start fishing, you need to put the bait in the rod. This is done in the same way as installing a modifier on a weapon. After that, we select a place with the right mouse button, with the left click we throw the bait into the reservoir and wait until the fish bites.

As soon as you cast the rod, do not change the active object and do not take the camera far from the bait, otherwise you will lose it.

To catch a fish, you need to exhaust it by taking the line in the opposite direction. Pay attention to the tension of the line – it may break. Loosen the line if necessary.

Use the WASD keys to control the rod.

Where can you fish

You can fish in Rust in any body of water. It all depends on the type of fish you want to catch.

Above we have already told what kind of fish is found in what body of water. However, there is a small clarification. To catch fish that swim in underwater laboratories, you have to cast your fishing rod in the same place where you leave the submarine.

What drops after processing a fishing rod

After processing the fishing rod at the recycler, you will receive 1 unit of rope and 100 units of wood , that is, half of the resources that you spent on crafting.

Secrets and Tips

Did you know that fish can be sold in a fishing village ? To do this, go to the vending machine and sell all the fish you don’t need, getting some scrap metal .

How to spawn a fishing rod through the console

You can get the fishing rod through the console if you have administrator rights. You can get it in the category “TOOL” or by entering the console command ” Inventory.give ” or ” Inventory.giveto ” to give the rod to yourself or someone else. The rod ID is 1569882109 .

Fishing in the Rust game is quite a good way to dilute the gameplay of the Rust game. Yes, not every player will go, but if you have nothing to do in Rust, then why not just go fishing? Fishing is especially useful at the start of development, when there are a lot of problems with food. And in the later stages of development, when there is not enough scrap metal, you can fish and sell all the fish in the fishing village.
