The Google smartphone app has a feature that allows us to identify a song by humming or whistling it. What a little reminiscent of Shazam, while we can also identify songs that play around us.
What do you do when you have a song in your head and you can’t put your finger on the name of this famous song?
We ask a friend or relative by humming or whistling it. Only, there is no guarantee that he will recognize the tune or actually know the song.
Google can then become our friend who will recognize the famous song thanks to its artificial intelligence and musical algorithms.
The Google app can identify a song that you hum or whistle.
Identify a song illico presto
The principle of this function from Google resembles Shazam, but is much more similar to the Soundhound application which also allows you to identify songs by humming them.
However, Google intends to use its great artificial intelligence to quickly and efficiently identify a song that is mumbled or whistled to it.
Note that the function is available on Android devices in more than 20 languages including French, while on iPhone and iOS it is only if our device is configured in English that we have it for the moment.
Thus, to identify a song on Google by humming or whistling it, you must:
- Open the Google app
- Tap the mic tab in the search bar
- Select option: Search for a song
- Hum the tune of the songHere is where is the function to identify a song on Google.
Google will then show us the search results that come closest to the tune of the song.
Note that we can also use it like Shazam when a song is playing around us, whether at a friend’s house or in a business.
By pressing the title of the song, you switch to the Google card of the famous song.
You can then choose to listen to it on YouTube, Spotify, Deezer or other music applications.
