Fallout: New Vegas Guide – How to Get to Dry Wells

Dry Wells is a location that Fallout: New Vegas fans know well. However, not everyone manages to find the mysterious territory, let alone newcomers trying to complete the cult RPG for the first time. Today we will tell you where Dry Wells is and how to get there.

Looking for Dry Wells

Dry Wells is actually a location featured exclusively in the Fallout: New Vegas DLC Lonesome Road. It becomes available after the Legion bombing. The latter occurs as part of the final quest of the DLC, called “Apocalypse.” Before the warheads are launched, the Courier will have to face Ulysses, a memorable character who is extremely difficult to persuade.

The action will take place in a temple, where the Courier needs to engage in a tense conversation with the antagonist and try to influence the future of the factions.

If the character under the user’s control has pumped up eloquence (at level no less than 90), then he has a chance to avoid the fight. The situation will unfold similarly if a full set of holodisks is found or if ED-E is involved as a partner (located in the robot maintenance room ). The latter is able to reproduce important lines recorded in memory.

If you still can’t avoid a fight with Ulysses, remember that the enemy has a large HP reserve, as well as several techniques that can catch you off guard (using flashbang grenades and a stealth boy). Ulysses will also be assisted by robot eyes, if the Courier does not disable them in advance.

After destroying the enemy, the hero will have to rush to the control panel to make a difficult decision. He can stop the launch, speed it up, or strike at one faction or another.

Considering that this guide is about Dry Wells, gamers need to focus their attacks on Legion.

When exiting the temple, an explosion will be visible on the left, and a new location will appear on the map. Before visiting it, it is worth preparing the hero for the next tests, arming himself well and collecting a sufficient amount of anti-radiation equipment.

To get to Dry Wells, players need to go to the location that appears on the map. You can orient yourself by Cottonwood Cove (they are essentially the same thing).

The Legion Camp, located on the western bank of the river, will be the place from which you can get to your destination. To do this, take a closer look at the boats near the pier (opposite the toilets). One of them is turned over and allows interaction when hovering the cursor. It is on it that the gamer will be able to sail to Dry Wells.

Interesting Finds

There are many useful items to find in Dry Wells. For example, there are containers with weapons, ammo, and modifications on the roadside.

On the mountain ledge on the left, the gamer will see a weapons box. In it, you can find a note about the missing cargo with Chinese grenade launchers and one of them.

If you go to the end of the location, the Courier will come across another box. It will be located on a ledge on the right side. The contents here completely depend on the character’s level . Thus, a high level will allow you to count on T-51b armor, and a low one – on T-45d.

Among other things, in Dry Wells the gamer can get the heavy armor of the 87th tribe. It adds ten action points in VATS, increases the hero’s charisma and gives a good chance of critical hits. To get the equipment, the Courier will have to find Gaius Magnus, and before that, provide a blow to the Legion as part of the Armageddon quest. The latter is also important, since you can get to Dry Wells in another way, which we will tell you about below.

The second way to get to Dry Wells

Above we described the standard procedure for visiting Dry Wells. For those who don’t want to bother with completing quests and difficult battles, console commands are always available. Yes, this is not a completely honest method, but it also needs to be mentioned.

All players need to do is enter the command “tmm 1” into the console. This will reveal all hidden markers on the map, including Dry Wells, and allow them to quickly travel there. To access the console, users need to press the tilde (“~”) key without pausing the game.

By the way, this command will greatly help those gamers who did not destroy the Legion with missiles .
