Sometimes you’re just sitting on your phone, about to call someone, and then bam — an error. “Android.process.acore has stopped” or “An error has occurred in the Android.process.acore application.” Annoying? Annoying! Especially if the call is urgent and important.
Now we will look at all the ways to solve the problem so that you can choose the best option for yourself.
Clear cache
First, let’s try one of the classic methods – clear the cache and contact data on your smartphone. Usually, the Android.process.acore error occurs if the cache is full or some files were written to it by mistake. Cleaning is not only the easiest way to solve this problem, but also the most common, along with rebooting.
Here’s how you can do it:
- Open your smartphone settings;
- Go to the applications menu;
- In the Manage Applications section, find Contacts;
- Click Clear and select the Clear Cache option.
After that, try going to Contacts again and calling someone. If the error disappears, you are great and it is a success. If not, let’s move on, because there are five more methods ahead that can help.
Update software
The second reason for failures is outdated system components. We have repeatedly reminded you that you need to install software updates in a timely manner, since over time, protection becomes outdated and your smartphone becomes more vulnerable to various threats. You also need to periodically check for updates to system applications.
As you might guess, this solution involves updating the system, built-in applications, and various messengers installed on your smartphone. Most often, failures occur when using Hangouts and Facebook* Messenger.
So, what needs to be done:
- Go to your smartphone settings;
- Go to the “Component Update” menu;
- Install updates for system applications and messengers;
- Go to the “About phone” section;
- Check for OS updates.
To update third-party applications, you need to proceed a little differently:
- Go to settings;
- Open the “Applications” section;
- Check for updates for installed messengers.
Again, special attention should be paid to Facebook* Messenger and Hangouts, but it would not be a bad idea to simply update everything. The fact is that the error is related to contacts, which means that messengers can also affect its appearance. After updating, we recommend restarting the smartphone.
Remove conflicting applications
If updating apps doesn’t help, you can try uninstalling some of them. Of course, this may not work with all of them, but some third-party messengers like WhatsApp* can be uninstalled without any problems. It’s important to note that this is only necessary to check if the problem is related to a specific app. Later, you can install everything back without any problems.
Why is it worth doing? Because when synchronizing messenger contacts with your phone book, a failure may occur, which will lead to an error.
If your apps are located on the desktop and there is no menu on your smartphone, just tap on the icon and drag it to the trash or wait for the pop-up menu and click “Delete”. If there is an application menu, you can select the unnecessary program and get rid of it. Or you can use the “Applications” section in the smartphone settings.
After each deletion, check if the error persists. If it is still relevant, then everything is fine with the messenger files and the reason lies elsewhere.
Logout of accounts
If the apps are pre-installed and won’t uninstall, or you don’t want to do that for some reason, you can try signing out of your accounts and deleting your contact sync data. This can potentially clear the error and allow you to sync again to fix the previous glitch.
For all messengers the instructions will be approximately the same:
- Go to the application;
- Open your account settings;
- Click “Log out of account”;
- Go to your smartphone settings;
- Open the “Applications” section and find the program you need;
- Clear your cache.
Check if the error occurs after this, and try to log into your account and sync your contacts again. If the problem returns, you will have to stop using the messenger or try to solve this problem in two more ways.
Remove auto-sync with Facebook*
As we have already noted above, Facebook* is often the cause of the error. This social network uses data from your contacts to add them to your friends list and suggest new people to meet.
If in one of the previous steps you determined that this particular social network is the culprit, but you need it for work, try disabling auto-sync. Yes, this way you will have to add some contacts manually, but you will get rid of the error.
You can disable synchronization as follows:
- Open your smartphone settings;
- Go to the “Advanced settings” section;
- Go to the “Accounts and sync” menu;
- Unsync for Facebook* and Messenger.
Tenorshare ReiBoot
If nothing helps you at all, then it’s time to ult and use a special utility. With Tenorshare ReiBoot, you can safely clean system errors and you don’t even have to go into the system settings yourself, the program will do everything – with its help, you can fix various phone problems.

After that, try checking your contacts and calling someone. The program method should fix the problem, but if it still persists, there is only one option – contact the service.
We have considered 6 most popular options for fixing the error. You can try them all in turn, or, if you know what the problem may be, use one of the methods. The main thing is to remember about caution and if nothing worked, take the smartphone to the service center.
