Enablex: What is it for and How to use it

Enablex is a medicine that acts on the bladder by increasing its storage capacity and decreasing urinary frequency. Its active ingredient is darifenacin hydrobromide, being marketed by the Novartis laboratory.

What is it for

Enablex is indicated for the treatment ofoveractive bladder that manifests symptoms such as urgency to urinate, sudden urge to pee, frequent urge to urinate and not being able to control urine properly by wetting the underwear.

How to take

Adult use only:

  • Take 1 7.5 mg tablet once a day. After 2 weeks increase the dose to 15 mg once a day or as directed by your doctor.

The tablets should be taken with water at any time of the day, but preferably always at the same time as the person chooses. Swallow the tablets whole with or without food.

The maximum daily dose is 15mg.

Possible side effects

Usually this medicine is well tolerated, but symptoms such as dry mouth and constipation, headache, stomach pain, nausea, dry eyes, dryness of the nose may appear. Talk to your doctor immediately if symptoms such as itching, difficulty breathing or swallowing, dizziness or swelling of the lips, tongue or throat develop.

When should not be used

Pregnancy risk C ; breast-feeding; urinary retention; gastric retention; uncontrolled closed-angle glaucoma, and also in case of allergy to any of the components of the formula.This medicine should be used with caution in people with liver problems if there is difficulty in eliminating urine such as very weak urine jet, severe constipation.
