Best starter class
Although in advanced games you will be able to create a hybrid character, completely different from the initial one, there are two classes that are far above the rest : they are the Astrologer and the Samurai .
The Astrologer is the best starting class for a very simple reason: the enemy AI doesn’t react well to long range magic attacks . Normal enemies won’t even be able to get close to your character and as for the bosses , you can get on the horse and cast spells while going around in circles . The result will be sadly effective, though bosses may be taught to properly defend against this strategy in the future.
If, on the other hand, you do not want to go in “easy mode” and want a melee class , the Samurai is the best of them all. Not only does it have pretty decent armor , offering a great balance between weight and defense, but you start with the Catana , the best starting weapon. The damage is considerable and, in addition, it causes Hemorrhage, which affects almost all enemies and deals brutal damage. In addition, it is one of the classes that starts with a bow , so you can face enemies from a distance.
All classes and differences;List of Elden Ring All Classes
We want to clarify that the Samurai and the Astrologer are extremely above the other classes , so as a general rule, we would say that today “There are two classes and all the others”. However, if you want to know a little about the others, these are all the startup classes and their characteristics:
Vagrant.
The Vagante is basically a knight . He has decent armor and the highest starting health level. He will start with a long sword, a halberd, and a shield.
Warrior.
The Warrior is presented as a rogue or rogue . He begins his adventure with everyone’s Dexterity level, which allows him to easily wield a Scimitar in each hand, dealing a lot of damage quickly at the cost of not having much protection.
Hero
The Hero is the barbarian . He offers the highest Strength level of all the starting classes and has an axe. He only lacks a club to make it clear how barbaric he is.
Bandit
In the Bandit we see another rogue . It is not as specialized as the Warrior, but its main advantage is that it will start with a bow. And that in a Souls is a great advantage.
Astrologer
If you want to play as a pure mage , the Astrologer is what you are looking for. You will start the game with a short sword, a spellcasting staff, and the highest Intelligence level, allowing you to use relatively powerful spells early on.
Prophet
There’s not much to work with here, the Prophet is basically a healer . There are attack spells focused solely on Faith, but unless you’re always going to play as a team, you’d better make it a hybrid to find the Paladin quickly… and there’s another class for that already.
Samurai.
The Samurai is… well, he embodies his own class, Samurai . You start with an Uchigatana, capable of Bleeding very quickly, the starter armor will also come in handy after a few hours of play, all of her stats are fairly balanced for a hybrid, and you have a bow from the start. Perfect for anyone looking for an absolute all-rounder.
Prisoner.
The Prisoner is pretty good at creating a hybrid class . He doesn’t particularly excel at anything, he doesn’t particularly lack anything… he’s a blank sheet of paper with which you start with an advantage.
Confessor.
Combining his Faith level with physical stats, the Confessor can quickly become a Paladin class. You have a good starting sword, a shield that protects against physical damage and a talisman to cast healing spells or supports. Not bad even to go alone, really.
Miserable
With the Miserable you have no class: 10 points in all categories . It is the starting point for an absolute hybrid. However, you must keep in mind that it will be expensive (in Runes) to start playing: you have no equipment , you will have to get everything on your own.
What is the best initial gift?
Among all the starting gifts that are available, the most useful is the Golden Seed . In this way, as soon as you start you can use it in a Place of grace and have an extra Vial from the beginning of the game. Having an additional healing or mana recovery never hurts, and the rest of the starting items aren’t going to get you out of anything either.
Can you change class?
Yes but no . That is, if you started out as Wretched, to say the least, the game will never give you the option to choose again , but you can cast spells with a melee class and vice versa . It’s all a matter of dedicating levels to raising other attributes.
