While in reality this is a very difficult task that some people fail to master even in their entire lives, in the fantasy universe of Dragon’s Dogma 2 you can change your calling quite easily, and more than once.In Dragon’s Dogma 2, vocations are analogous to classes that determine the combat style, set of special skills and equipment. At the start, only Fighter, Mage, Archer and Thief are available , but as you progress, you can unlock 6 more so-called advanced vocations, which we will talk about in more detail next time.
Since you can never be sure in advance how interesting it will be for you to play for a particular class, the developers kindly allowed players to change their choice. But for some reason, only a specially authorized employee of an institution called the Guild of Callings can do this, and only after you provide proof of the success of your heroic adventures. To save you from having to independently understand the confusing and illogical bureaucratic structure of this fantasy world, we will tell you in detail how the class change procedure itself takes place and where all the guild offices are located.
How to change class
You can change your vocation by selecting the appropriate option in a dialogue with a guild representative, whose location we will tell you about later.
Although you won’t be asked for gold, this procedure isn’t free. For each class change, you’ll have to pay with discipline points (abbreviated DP), which are awarded automatically for killing enemies and completing quests.
The prices are the same for all guilds: 100 AP for a basic calling, 150 AP for an advanced calling, and 200 for a hybrid calling.
Once you unlock a new class, you can freely switch to it without spending AP, but keep in mind that you will also have to change all your equipment, since in Dragon’s Dogma 2 each vocation only has access to strictly defined types of armor and weapons.
Where can I change my vocation?
Although there are only 3 guilds, there are 8 places in the game where you can change your vocation. Usually, you can see a special coat of arms nearby, which depicts four hands with different weapons.
You will visit most of them anyway if you follow the main plot, but sometimes you may simply not notice that a particular character provides such services, so it is better to mark all these important points on the map in advance.
Border guards’ recreation area
Since you will get to the Border Guards’ Rest Area during one of the first story missions called “In the Footsteps of the Dragon”, you definitely won’t miss this location.
On the spot you will easily find a blue tent, which serves as a local store and tavern. Behind the counter stands Warrick, who after a rest can be asked about the guild of vocations, after which you will be introduced to the mechanics of class change.
Hotel Tristan
The next representative of the guild of callings will meet you very soon – in the small settlement of Melve, which is located south of the outpost.
There, find Tristan’s Inn and talk to the owner behind the counter.
Vernworth Vocations Guild
You will be able to visit the guild of callings for the first time when you reach the capital of the kingdom of Vermund, which will also inevitably happen according to the plot.
If you go down the stone stairs to the south of the central city square, you will see the coat of arms we have already mentioned, next to which is the entrance to the guild.
The Guild of Callings in the Nameless Village
It turns out that even the smallest, most remote places are under the jurisdiction of the Guild of Callings . For example, if you risk going into the dense forests to the east of Vernworth and manage not to get lost or die in a fight with dangerous enemies along the way, you will find yourself in the mysterious Nameless Village .
You will immediately understand that the owner of the local inn knows and can do more than it seems, but if you ask him about the guild of callings, it turns out that he is also its representative.
The Sacred Grove Calling Guild
And if you go northwest from Vernvort, you will find yourself in the lands of the elves , where there is also a representative office of the guild of callings. It is located in the Sacred Grove, and specifically in the Kofa Inn.
However, please note that the local hostess will only communicate in her native language, so you will have to learn Elvish.
But there is an easier way if you know that you can simply select the third line from the top of the dialogue.
The Vocation Guild in Border Town
Like in Vernworth, there is a branch of the guild of vocations in Border Town in the west, where you will definitely end up as you progress through the game.
Just go to the back with the familiar coat of arms at the entrance and talk to the man named Edgar behind the counter.
Guild of Vocations in Bakbatta
South of Border Town begins the desert region of Battal, whose capital also has its own guild.
It is located in the south of Bakbattal next to the tomb.
Vocation Guild on Volcanic Island
The final summoning guild you’ll likely find is towards the end of the main quest chain, when you reach the Volcanic Island of Agamen. This place is the least obvious, as the guild representative here is located in the workers’ dormitories opposite the armory – this is a girl named Melissa.
