How to download and save Gifs for Whatsapp

Do you want to learn everything about WhatsApp GIFs? In this article we will show you how to download and save GIFs for WhatsApp, WhatsApp Web and much more.

Not long ago, WhatsApp, the world’s number one instant messaging app , included the option to send and receive GIFs . Since there are multiple ways to obtain images with this type of format, below we will teach how to download and save GIFs for WhatsApp, WhatsApp Web and more.

Download and save Giphy GIFs

Giphy is a website where you can find hundreds of GIFs to download and send to your friends through WhatsApp. The procedure is simple: what you have to do is access the web through this link and in the search engine simply type the subject of the GIF you want to find, for example, if we search for “Homero”, all the GIFs that star in the popular character from The Simpsons .

When you find one that you like, you only have to open it by clicking on it and after holding it down for a moment, select the Download image option . In this way, the GIF will already be on your mobile device ready to be sent by WhatsApp or any other social network you want, such as those found within the 15 apps that you cannot miss on your phone or tablet.

Search GIFs in Google

Another option to find a GIF that we like, is to search through the Google search engine for the keyword that we want, specifying that we need the results to be in this type of format .

For example, if we want a GIF of the Looney Tunes character, Bugs Bunny, we will have to write: “Bugs Bunny GIF” . Then, choose the one that we like the most and download it normally as if it were a JPG image , that is, keeping it pressed for an instant and then touching the Download image option .

How to send a GIF by WhatsApp

When we already have the GIF saved on our device, it will only be necessary to send it by WhatsApp to our family or friends. For this, enter the chat of the person to whom you want to send the animated image and press the small camera icon that is located between the button to send audios and the clip to attach.

If you downloaded the GIF recently, then it will be displayed in front of everything in a small row of photos. On the other hand, if you do not find it so easily, you will have to navigate in your gallery until you come across the Downloads folder , which is the one that houses all the files you have downloaded to your smartphone.

Send GIF by WhatsApp Web

Unlike WhatsApp for Android or iOS, the WhatsApp Web application does not allow us to send GIFs that we have stored on our computer . To do this, we will first have to convert them into video:

  1. Go to OnlineConverterand select the Video converter option .
  2. Load the .gif file you have on your computer.
  3. Convert it to MP4 following the steps that the same website tells you.
  4. Download the video.
  5. Go to WhatsApp Web and click on the Attach Photo and Video tab.
  6. Look in the Downloadsfolder for the newly downloaded file and select it.
  7. Send the message with the GIF video.

The other way to send GIFs through WhatsApp Web is through the same application. The first thing you have to do is press the emojis icon and then select the GIF tab. Finally, you just have to find the animated image you want by typing the keywords in “Search GIF in Tenor” .

Save GIF to Google Drive

One of the most interesting options that Android offers us is to save a GIF that is sent to us by WhatsApp in our Google Drive folder , in this way, the animated images will not take up storage space and can be used at any time.

To save a GIF sent to us by WhatsApp in our Google Drive account, we must follow a series of steps:

  1. Press and hold the message in the GIF until it turns light blue.
  2. Select the Shareicon located at the top of the screen.
  3. Choose the Save to Driveoption .
  4. Give it the name you want and save it.
